~sigh! I had to take a half day off from work to go to the doctor this morning to get a referral for some place named weight management and it started out nice enough this morning and then the taxi was late and I had to argue with male receptionist that I'm bloody not going home cause my taxi was late and the doc better see me soon.
Ok...now that's off my chest...
Good Morning fellow beachers! It's a lovely crisp day here in Glasgow. Sunny but chilly. I'm going to go make a nice veggie omelet and then get ready for work.
I wanted to ask as well: I want to try making a chicken masala (which is an indian curry) but I want to make sure the ingredients are all legal. I've posted them below, what do y'all think?
3 chicken breasts
4 Tbsp olive or groundnut oil
5 cardamom pods
a 5cm cinnamon stick
1 ½ onions
2 tsp fresh ginger, minced
2 tsp garlic, minced
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ to 1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp paprika
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 large tomato
1 tsp tomato purée
150 ml water
Salt to taste
Yoghurt
Good morning, we're in for another hot, sticky day here again. Summer doesn't want to let go yet. Oh well, soon enough I'll be whining about the cold weather.
Jenny, your chicken masala recipe sounds SB friendly, so make it and enjoy! Feel like sharing the recipe?
I seem to have caught Maggie and Carley's colds, although I'm doing my best to ignore it. Yesterday I made the mistake of taking some Tylenol Severe Cold pills, and they made me feel wonky all day. I won't make that same mistake today. I'm starting off with a mug of hot tea and a big bowl of oatmeal.
thanks Cottage! I'll post the recipe in the recipe forum under entrees for Ph1! Hope you're feeling better...maybe give the curry a try as spicy foods are supposed to be good for a cold!
Good Morning chicks,
I'm out the door to Quantico in a few minutes. Meetings, then hope to swing by Trader Joe's on the way home if not too late. I've got to have a quick dinner tonight so I'm going to make raviolis for the family with chicken Italian Sausage and salad for me. They're always so excited to see pasta these days, it's kind of sad...
I'm excited to have some yummy leftover Taco Bake to take along for lunch. I've got a Parks & Rec Committee meeting in town tonight, and I hope to get back home in time to catch the last few minutes of Survivor. This is one of the nights that my bed is going to feel really good.
Jenny, I'll give the curry a try. I like spicy food, but I think I don't like Indian food too much, although I've only had it a couple of times and maybe it wasn't good Indian food. I probably haven't given it a fair try. cottage, hope you are feeling better soon. Hot an muggy here today too. I really enjoyed our taste of cool fall weather last week and I am so ready for it to return. But I've got to go to New Mexico next week, so I doubt I'll have any fall until I get back. At least the evenings are cool now.
To all the other chicks to follow, have a good one!
Good morning, Chickies. I just got up 15 minutes ago. We are in the middle of a real downpour and the roar woke me up.
Jenny, I love curry and had forgotten about it. I just approved your recipe which looks great - better skip the coconut milk and use yogurt though. I assume it makes four servings.
Cottage, I sure hope you can shake that darn cold fast! It's no fun when you have to just carry on when you'd rather take cold capsules and cuddle up at home with a book and tea.
Schmoodle, mentioning ravioli to me is Food Porn! I have really cut back on my pasta consumption but the thought of ravioli is making me salivate. I may just have taco bake for breakfast as I have some in my freezer stash.
Donna comes later today to clean so no rush this morning. I think Hershey and I will spend some quality time in the kitchen. I have my dear friend Shirleyanne coming tomorrow and need to plan some menus and cook ahead. Hershey "helps" by eating little bits that fall on the floor although I do give her veggie treats - red pepper is the current favourite.
I'd better get some coffee and breakfast and crank up the day. Have a good one.
Jenny: What a crappy morning! Did you finally get in to see the doc? Your recipe looks interesting, but I have to admit that I've never been able to get on board with curry!
Cottage: I hope your cold clears up soon! Sounds like you need some rest and some tea!
Schmoodle: Hope the meetings and such go well today and that you get to catch that last bit of Survivor. What part of NM are you traveling to? Just wondering because they've had some ridiculous amounts of rain and severe weather in the southeast corner! It's been nice because some of it has been traveling down here (I'm about 3 hours away from NM). Have a great day!
Ruth: I'm glad you and Hershey have a nice morning "off". I hope you enjoy it!
Me: DH made it home and I'm really glad for that. He had to leave again this morning, but just for a day trip.
Uh oh! I really need to get into the shower if I'm going to make it to work on time! Well, I'll be back later! Have a great morning and here's some to make it better!
I had a fibro anxiety attack yesterday. And Ate not a lot for a Normal person for for a girl with WLS I binged and today I have my year anniversary chceck up. It's only a # right?
I wish someone would just come to my house and take care of me for a few days Its been a long month and I need some R&R!
Ruth that's my cat's new idea of helping. . .I have the same response to Tortellini that u have to ravioli!
SChmoodle have fun at TJ's!!! I'm jealous!
Jenny I LOVE MASALA!! you are a goddess! Docs don't ever understand about transportation issues!
Cottage Enjoy your tea and oats I'm going to make my cereal in a min!

Good morning all. Dr. is playing with my meds again, so, like 6 weeks ago, I'm extremely dizzy. I hate this feeling!!!! Right now I'm lying in bed, typing on the notebook trying to keep my eyes focused!
Thanks!!! Now I want Indian!!! LOL, and I just made some Chicken Makhani on Sat! Nice and spicy!!! I've got everything to make it from scratch, but it's so much easier to open the spice packet, and add a scoop or 2.
I'm off to take more drugs - so I can get more dizzy! Wish me luck!
Jenny - I'll have to give that recipe a try although I would definitely use plain yogurt as my DH is allergic to coconut.
cottage - I love starting my day off with oatmeal and hot tea. I should go fix some tea now.
Schmoodle - I found a brand of fresh whole wheat ravioli that I've used a couple of times. My son loves ravioli. It sounds like you are making it yourself. If so, couldn't you make it to where it would use SB approved ingredients?
Ruth - We had a big storm yesterday but it passed quickly. Relax some. I know you will be busy soon - you always are!
Kim - I hope you slept better with your husband home.
KO - I hope you have a better day today.
Me - Brian had too much homework yesterday so he worked on that instead of selling popcorn. School has to come first. Tonight I have a staff meeting for the district event we are having Oct 6th so I can't sell very long with him.
DH had a bad rash that I think started with the poison oak. Mine got better although I still have some small patches but his rash was really red and hot and looked bad. I couldn't get him to go in to the doctor because they give him a hard time about his weight and his diabetes. It really bothers me that he doesn't take care of himself. I did convince him to go to urgent care and they thought it was cellulitis and wanted him to go to the ER. He finally went. I haven't spoken to him in person since he got home but he called and said they gave him IV antibiotics for eryipelas and contact dermatitis so I guess he really did need to go. I WISH he would take his health seriously! I'm working from home again today so I'll talk to him more when he wakes up.
The guy from the pool company is coming today to mark the pool and talk to us about what has to be done about the electric line so I should know more later. I did NOT get paged last night so I got a pretty good night of sleep (although I kept waking up listening to see if DH got home from the emergency room).
Kier: Oh honey! I wish I could take a few days off and take care of you! Instead, I'll just send you some relaxing thoughts! :
mare: I know how you feel. Hopefully your body will get used to the meds quickly and the dizziness will subside. Until then, kick your feet up and rest!
Barb: Thank you, I did sleep wonderfully last night. Thank goodness DH listened to you and went to the Dr. How scary! I hope the electricity work for the pool isn't too extensive!
dcapulet: Happy Thursday to you as well!
Me: Well, DH is back and I slept WONDERFULLY last night. It felt so good to get up this morning fully rested! He doesn't have to go out of town for another three weeks, so I'm going to enjoy him until then!
Yesterday my first eBay yarn purchase came in and it was all gorgeous. I balled it up right away and crocheted samples to check my gauge. I think I'll definitely get a beanie and a beanie/scarf set out of it all. I'm going to play around with the patterns a bit and see what happens. Not too shabby for having only spent $10 on it with shipping!
Update on the doc visit Tuesday: They weighed me and showed that I had lost 11 lbs since the 27th of Aug. That's 3 lbs more than my scale says, but the doc was concerned that I was losing too fast for not having worked out regularly. She called me yesterday after reviewing my chart. So, back to sneaking in more cals until my next visit. Blech. She says she wouldn't be worried if I had only lost 5 - 8 lbs. for the time period. So, that's my goal for my next visit - 8 lbs. My blood work should be in next week, so we'll see where my hormone levels are.

Mare Take it easy!! let us know how the druggage tweaking goes!
DCap- I'm going to be in the city today BLEUGH!!! Normally its my happy place. . .Have you ever gone to the Union Square GreenMArket? It's veggie disneyworld!
Kim! If you did, we'd just cruise Yarn shops!! I'm so glad your dh is home and you're sleeping!! Take pics of your samples! If our internet gets fixed at home I'm going to cruise Ebay a bit tonight.
Barb MEn NEver go to the doc I don't know why but I'm glad your dh got the prescriptions!
DH should be here soon to Pick me up for my 1 year anniversary appt to the WLS doc
Have a great day ladies Hope I can check in later
Kier
PS Mare what goes in that indian dish? I LOOOVE indian!
I got a chance to talk to DH. They gave him an antibiotic IV last night and two prescriptions for sulfa and a tetracycline. Apparently his blood pressure was also high and they wanted to have him check in to the hospital. They agreed to let him go home but are expecting him to see his doctor today. It will be tough to get him to go back for followup care but I'm going to do what I can.
Now until the restaurant sells I will be working open to close Monday through Saturday except for Tues. evenings. Check-in's will be brief.
I heard from the hospital last night and they are closing one of their units so they have to absorb some of those people into the jobs they have open, I won't know anything until at least Oct. 12th, which time wise works well for me anyway. She said she doesn't even know if anyone will apply for the position I applied for so wait and see. Not too worried as I have plenty of skills so if not this something else.
to those that need it today and to those that need them. to everyone for being here.
Bunna - as Napoleon Dynamite discovered, skills are important things to have. I expect it'll all work out for the best for you. Barb, hope DH is doing better now. It's the opposite here. DH is diabetic and pretty good about keeping up with the doctor's appointments. Well, he needs his physicals to be able to go to sea, so he's motivated. I'm the one that stays away unless absolutely unavoidable. I didn't make the ravioli. I had a bag of frozen from pre-SBD days. I've been looking for ww ravioli or tortellinis, but I can't find any so far. Kier, hope you can get a little pampering in. Sometimes when I'm feeling overwhelmed and can't sleep, I fantasize that I'm at a spa, getting pampered. Not that I've ever been to a spa, but if it's like my imagination, I've got to do it one day! dcapulet, I didn't realize you were in the city. I'm sure you're looking forward to fall too. mare, yes, post the recipe, please! I think I need to give Indian food another try. Kim, I'll be staying in Alamagordo. I'm going to a test shot at White Sands Missile Range. I hope the weather is good and the test doesn't get delayed, or I'll have to extend my stay! In two weeks I'll be spending the week at Fort Sill, Lawton, OK. My travel is so glamorous.. Ruth, sorry about the food porn! I didn't think about it because pasta isn't food porn to me, I can take it or leave it. Now if we start talking chocolate, I'm leaving the room...
Well, dinner's ready and I've got a couple extra kids here to kick out. We just had a downpour, so I was waiting a bit so I didn't send them out into the lightning and rain. Then off to my second round of meetings.
