I know many of us have goal weights for vanity reasons, but how many pounds are all of you away from a "healthy" BMI? I'm at 142lbs now putting me at a 26 even. Getting down to 136lbs will put me at 24.9! I know the BMI scale is a little weird and not particularly accurate, but I'd still love to be in the "Healthy" range How about all of you? How many pounds until you are considered Healthy?
I have 6lbs to go! But seeing as that I am losing only about 1lbs a month as of lately, that seems far off
Also, I know a few different sources may give you a few different BMI numbers, so I use the one at the Mayo Clinic website for consistency.

I'm actually 24.1 which is in the "healthy" range for my height, but I don't set a lot of stock by the BMI. It's nice to be considered "healthy" by most medical offices now, but I've heard time and time again it's not accurate for those with a lot of muscle mass or really for men. I'm not muscular by any stretch right now--but I know I've got at least 20 pounds of fat to take off before I'm going to be where I want, and then I've got to work on building muscle!
I think my current goal weight would still put me at a BMI in the "overweight" category, but like Azure said, I don't put a lot of stock in the BMI scale, as I find it an inaccurate measure of health, fitness and wellness.
I am happy for you, ThePrettyOne, as you are close to many of your goals!

Oh, I agree! I know even at 136 I will be carrying some extras that I definitely shouldn't! But just like wanting to see a smaller number on the scale, even if your measurements are shrinking, I like to see a smaller number on that BMI chart as well, even if my weight is dropping
Ahh, and thank you soul! I never imagined I could drop over 20lbs "the right way" I tried all the unhealthy ways and thought this "healthy eating" was all mumbo jumbo "eat more and lose", HAH, are you kidding? They weren't

I know that I'm about 45 lbs away from a BMI that's in the "overweight" category instead of "obese". I'm really looking forward to not being considered obese anymore. For my height I have to be below 174 lbs to get out of the obese category.
I entered into a healthy BMI about 9 pounds ago. I had to reach 154 to be "Healthy". Even after losing 9 pounds, I am not as "healthy" as I want to be. I'd like to make it closer to the mid to low healthy range. That way, if i put on a couple pounds in maintenance, i won't be too close to the unhealthy side of the healthy range. Did that make sense????
But to reach healthy, I had to lose 41 pounds. It's been a bit of a struggle and stuff, but I did it and I can keep doing it. I WILL keep doing it, rather!! lol.
Welcome MissyFluffs....MadamePj....It may be a long haul for you two, but don't let that discourage you. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! If you just keep going one day at a time, you will get there. It's hard to think about losing 50 pounds, 100 pounds. Knowing it might take a long time...but really...what else do we have but time??? Just break your goals up into small goals...5 pounds, or 10 pounds and you will see how far you are coming!!!!

Like lumifan, I need to be below 154 lbs to be in the healthy range. That means that I have 69 lbs to go! If I think of that number, it seems overwhelming and unatainable, but if I break it up into smaller steps, it's easier...like I set a goal of 20 lbs by Dec. 1st. That's much easier to face than 69 lbs!
I need to be at 170 to be overweight and at 140 to be normal. That means I still need to lose 15 lbs to be overweight and 45 lbs to be normal. I've already lost 30 so those numbers don't seem too out of reach, I hope.
I finally, finally hit the normal, not overweight mark last week. Though I had been feeling quite "normal" (at least weight wise) and healthy for quite some time now. I needed to lose 160 lbs to get there. My healthy weight is 127 lbs. Oh the joys of being a mere 5 feet tall.
I need to get down to my goal to be healthy. The BMI isn't very accurate, so I don't put much stock in it. At my thinnest at my height, I was 15 years old and ana - I weighed 140 and looked like a walking corpse. I'm going for 160, which is just in the 'healthy' range. From my last weigh in (over a month ago when my scale died RIP) that's 85 pounds to drop.
