Default OK, Back on the Beach AGAIN!

I had done some experimentation with a different plan for people with depression, it focused on eating small portions of carbs and sugars, but for ME, when I eat like that my cravings go nuts! I just have to make sure I take my Saint Johns Wort. When my cravings go out of control, I get even more depressed!
Other issues I have had - eating too much cheese, string cheese is so easy but I eat too much and it does stop up the plumbing, if you catch my drift. Plus, I am so much on the go, I need fast ideas, and portable - I work full time and then have a Mary Kay business. I have had a hostess plant a plate of strawberry shortcake in my lap - I don't want to offend people at a party because I want them to buy. I guess before the party starts I need to tell the hostess something in a tactful way. Ideas welcome!
So I am starting again on phase 1. I need to make this work this time, I know it has worked for me before!

Michele, we're happy to have you back!

When you are having a party, just tell your hostess in advance that you cannot have sugar. If she asks why, tell her it's for health reasons. No other explanation is needed.

Hi Michele welcom back! Some of the things that I do that are quick, easy and don't require a fridge are:

Baby Carrots in the little packages - they are a little more expensive but worth the easy grab and go

Grape Tomatoes or Cherry Tomatoes - just through a few in a zip bag and your ready to go

Snap Peas or Snow Peas - these usually come in bigger bags but I break them down into small zip bag servings so they are always ready

Sliced Cucumbers - I usually eat these first as they will last for a while but are better if you get to them first

Nuts - I usually buy these in the bulk and then break them down into a serving size amount in a zip bag

Laughing Cow Cheese wedges - They say they don't have to be kept in the fridge but I have a problem with that. However, I have had them out of the fridge for up to 10 hours and they are still great.

Hope this helps you get some quick and easy ideas. Good Luck!!

Can't really add much to Sheba's ideas.

I am just back one week today. Wishing all good things on SBD.

Welcome!!!

Around me, the local grocery store chain has single serve hummus packages. Add that to the veggies that Sheba suggested, and you've got lunch!

As for the food at your parties, I can understand you don't want to offend anyone. If you aren't comfortable talking to the hostess before hand, when she offers you something - or just hands you something - why not take it, take a tiny bite (I know - the horror!!!) and then set it down. Walk around and talk to the guests, or do other busy work. That way you don't offend anyone, and you can honestly say that you got so busy, you forgot to eat it.

Good luck!!!!!!

Hi!

I know what you mean about needing "on the go" stuff; I found that the baked oatmeal is great for breakfast (thought not necessarily P1 friendly - I made quiche cups for the first two weeks and froze them until I wanted to re-heat in the microwave). You can make it ahead of time and break it into single serving sizes - hence, breakfast at the tip of your fingers!

Good luck on the journey
