What about South Beach? I know it's pretty specific on what to eat and is pretty good about providing sample menus. It's easy to follow, from what I've read. I've known a few people who have had success with it. Unfortunately, I don't know many maintainers on it (doesn't mean they aren't out there!).
I lost about 85 pounds eating a raw/whole foods diet. I didn't measure or count calories, so I don't know if that's very helpful (but the food is definitely good for you
