Hi Ladies and Welcome to the September PCOS Weightloss and TTC Support!
Fall is on its way (we all can only hope!!!), and we all want to feel great and look even better than we do now for the lovely fall weather and to get all those cool new clothes for the fall!!!
Here we can discuss our "battles" with PCOS & Weightloss and TTC with PCOS! Having PCOS is a constant uphill "battle" with your body to TRY to do what you WANT it to do! lol.
Together we can support each other through this! Feel free to post about your daily doings, weightloss, TTC, Meds, Questions, whatever you want............
Everybody is Welcome!!!!!!!! Even if you do not have PCOS, if you are experiencing other TTC problems or have a family member or friend with PCOS, feel free to join us here.
Also if you have PCOS and are not currently TTC, feel free to join us as well. As long as you don't mind us chatting about TTC, everybody is welcome!
I sure hope you all are doing well! Me? I'm here. lol. Nothing much going on except for work and um more work. lol BUT our vacation is the end of this month & so is our anniversary and my bday so I'm quite excited about that! (except possibly for the bday - lol) Knowing our vacation is coming up is the only thing that keeps me going really! lol.
We are going to TN (hopefully if we ever decide on a place to stay!!) lol. and just "getting away from it all" I do not want any phones that is for sure! (I work in a call center)
A lady at work, who is from Romania has been chatting w/ my DH about adoption in Romania, since we know her, she said it could help us with the adoption as in Romania you must have a Sponser Family and she said we could use her family and that she would be very happy to help us. So she is looking into it for us.
Kinda Scary Really. I know all we have wanted for many, many years was a baby/child and now that we may be a step closer is a bit scary! I know that sounds silly doesn't it? lol. I know that things can happen, esp w/ adoption so I am not at all getting my hopes up, but just the talk of the possibility of being a step closer scares me to death! lol. Scary but I still want it of course. I think that every parent or soon-to-be parent feels that way, even the ones who have multiple children, I'm sure they get kind of scared as well. Anywho I will keep you posted on that!
Hello. I am new to this, but have been dealing with PCOS and IR for about 7 years now. Also, DH and I have been TTC for the last 4 years. I'm trying to lose the weight, but am struggling. Dr is more concerned with cholesterol and IR than actually helping to lose weight or TTC, but I guess one step at a time. Currently I am taking niacin (1000 mg daily) and metformin (2000 mg daily). Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've been dealing with PCOS and IR for about 7 yrs as well. I now have Diabetes, treated through diet and medication. The only advice I have is if you are not happy with your Dr., "shop" around. We hire and can fire our drs just like we do plumbers, or anybody else. I got that advice from my MIL, who is a retired ICU nurse. I was seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist who is supposed to be the top in her field. Well she may be that, but she was also a witch too. She was not nice at all and I am not paying someone to treat me with disrespect. All she ever was worried about was my Diabetes too. I mean yes that is part of it, but its not the whole thing. She didn't even want to discuss TTC. So I quit seeing her and since then I can honestly admit I have a bitter taste in my mouth for drs. I guess after you are poked and proded for many years and still no end results, you can't but be a bit bitter.
But a co-worker at work who has had trouble conceiving gave me the name and number of her dr and she is now pregnant! So I would advise asking around who your girlfriends, co-workers, etc see.
Good Luck and most of all, remember, its YOUR body and you should be able to decide what you want and what you don't want done! Sorry I don't mean this to be a "negative" side, but its an honest one.
Hello!! I have never posted to this thread before but I do check in and read it alot! I have not officially been diagnosed with PCOS but we have been trying to concieve for quite a long time now. I just recently went and got some blood work done and the results were all within okay limits. My doctors recommending that we try Clomid. Have any of you used Clomid? If so, did you have good luck with it? We will probably go ahead and give it a shot. I desperately want another child so I am willing to give it a shot. My husband is just concerned about having multiple babies!! I told him that everything that I have read says that the chance of having twin is somewhere between 5% -8%. I am willing to go for it! I guess I am just asking for any experiences any of you may have had. I would really appreciate any replies.
Hey everyone! Well, I don't have a goal for September except to just lose weight but I have decided to keep track of the calories I burn at the gym. I know during the day we burn calories when we walk and gain when we eat but I just want to keep track of what is burned at the gym. So, I made yet another tracker and decided hmmmm ... lets see how long it will take me to get to 50,000 calories burned. Sounds like a lot I know but hey, I want to aim for the goal and see where I am at once I hit that goal.
I found a new gym that I am going to start going to. There is a 24 hour fitness closer to my house (smaller) yet nicer and not in the ghetto. And I dont feel uncomfortable because in my old gym the cardio and weights were all in the same area but here the cardio machines are in their own separate room ... I really like that! So, I have found a gym I like and a big goal I want to meet no matter how long it takes me .... I just hope I can find the strength in me to do this.
**I'm posting on two different forums because I have met many cool people on both IR and TTC**
Good afternoon, everyone. I'm new to the PCOS/IR forum and just posted my bio. I was diagnosed with PCOS on Aug. 7th and started Metformin as treatment since then. My first week on Metformin was BAD as I wasn't eating nearly enough calories and had several hypoglycemic episodes. I've finally gotten my body and track and am back to feeling as decent as can be expected.
DH and I aren't TTC quite yet, but will start allowing accidents to "happen" as soon as I lose 10% (21 lbs). I'm hoping to hit that goal by the end of December and we'll just have to see what happens. My goal for the remainder of September is another 6 lbs which will put my weight at 207. We'll see how that goes as well. I've increased my workouts to 4 times a week and will increase to 5 times next week. That's helped with my energy levels and depression.
Becky - I've tried Clomid, it never did anything for me, however, it did help my cousin conceive her 2nd child, so I think it does work, it just didn't work for me.
Nicoyaangel - WTG and I wish you luck on burning 50,000 calories! Glad that you found a new gym too, comfort is a big thing when trying to lose weight, if you feel uncomfortable, you tend to not do as well as when you are comfortable.
Kim - Glad you to hear you are eating enough. What I can suggest the most for a newbie is to just read, read, read. On the net, off the net, just power yourself up with PCOS knowledge. That is what I did at first and still try to do. If you haven't been yet, check out: http://www.soulcysters.com/ there is a wonderful wealth of info there as well as fellow Cysters to chat with too. Not saying you can't find that here, its just it is a wonderful site for PCOSers, esp newly diagnosed ones.
Well I suppose that is about all for now.
Good Luck and many many +++++++++ thoughts to you all!
Hello all! Thanks Sassy! Like I said I dont know how long its going to take but I figure ... I want to hit the gym as much as possible and eventually plan to hit 50,000. If I burn at least 500 to 1000 calories everytime I hit the gym, I should be there sooner then later. Right? LOL
I had a wonderful workout today. The new gym I go to has treadmils where you can set your calories goal. My old gym NEVER had such a thing. So, since I am doing my calorie goal, the last time I was there I said I would do 500 in an hour. But I only did about 300 or 400 and something. Then on Tuesday night while I was watching The Biggest Loser (Go Black Team!) I was just watching what the trainers were doing with the contestants and thought hmmm... if I up my incline and speed I bet I can do it. Sure enough I went back today set my goal to 500 calories again and it automatically set me up for an hours work out. Well in 42 minutes I had hit my goal and then some. I burned 524.9 calories today! Wooohoo. Plus I played with the medicine ball and that big huge ball and did some sit ups.
I have a goal to meet and I am so pumped and motivated. I cant wait to get there
Can I join you guys even though I haven't been diagnosed with pcos? Dh & I have been ttc since august 06. I have gained 30 pounds in the process. I personally think I have pcos because of the symptoms, but my ob hasn't done an u/s yet ... she said that would be for the infertility doc/re to do.
Well, TOM is here and is killing me! Still going up and down on my weight *bleh*
In other news, the boyfriend and I have planned to take a trip to Disneyland. So I have another reason why I need to lose this weight. A big fear of mine is that I am going to get on a ride and I am going to be too big and get kicked off. (It happened to me once before and it was sooo embarassing) So, I would like to go on this trip weighing at least 190lbs. *crosses fingers*
I still need help as to how I can keep this weight off. I am supposed to work off more calories then what I am eating, right??? *sigh* I guess you can say I am getting frustrated and I just want to finally get to onderland. Its sooooo close but yet sooo far I literally feel like I have to live at the gym in order to lose at least 2lbs. Gosh!!! Ok, well my next weigh in is on Monday morning ... I hope that I have surpassed this plateau!
Big , Nicoyaangel...........Disneyland sounds fun and I know what you mean about the fear of being told your too large for the ride. I've never had it happen to me, luckily, but then again I am not a big fan of rides, at least not anymore. My DH is and he doesn't have the problem of the being too large width wise, his problem is height, he is 6'8, so some of those rides that your standing or hanging, he can't ride because he is too tall. He looks so sad too when he comes back, just like a little kid. lol.
I also know what you mean about having to work your butt off to even lose 2 lbs. That is the struggle us "Cysters" have and it stinks, but after we lose our weight, we definitely will appreciate it a lot more, because of all the hard work we have to do to get there!
I am going to go on ahead and create an October Thread because tomorrow is my bday and Wed. is my anniversary and my DH starts his vacation tomorrow so we will be spending time together, so not sure if I'll get on here much this week or not.
Hello Ladies, I do not have PCOS but was diagnosed in June with IR. What a relief it was to know that all those months spent on Weight Watchers without weight loss weren't totally my fault!! Well technically I guess it is but what I mean was I wasn't cheating! It totally was my body fighting me back! I was so disgruntled by the weekly weigh-ins with tsk tsk tsks and looks of disapproval from my WW counselors!
So now in September I'm starting fresh with Jenny Craig! I hope you all have luck with your current diet. I know it gets frustrating but at least I can say I lost 3 lbs this month! woo hoo!! Plus my doc put me on Meridia 2 weeks ago so hopefully that will speed up my weight loss.
Lets all keep our fingers crossed that we have a successful end of September and an even more successful October!
