Good Morning, and TGIF! And, we have a long weekend ahead of us!
It's a quarter past 6 and still dark outside, can you believe it? I kept Carley overnight, and we're all headed to the Phila. Zoo today. Monica will meet up with us in the city after her meeting. We had a nice day yesterday, swimming in my green water in the pool. We took a sample of the water to the pool place, and they gave me a bottle of stuff to treat it with and said it was perfectly safe for the kids to swim in. The girls thought it was pretty neat to swim in it, and their imaginations ran wild playing games. Of course, I made sure they didn't get water in their mouths!
Speaking of water, I need to pack up a small cooler with several bottles of water and some snacks to take along. I'd better wake up Carley, too.
Lucy's home and is her usual normal self except for the wheezing. No bleeding from the procedure so far which is great. We're just going to carry on and live for the moment. Lucy's always been good at that!
I'm trying to get my groove back and am off for the gym in an hour. Then I'll tackle some cooking jobs I've been putting off. Right now it's Fruit Flies 4 and Ruthie 0 in the kitchen!
Enjoy Friday and gear down for the last long weekend. Or is it gear up?
I intend to enjoy myself for sure. It's been a rough week.
Good Morning everyone!
Ruth: For fruit flies, if you put a cup of apple cider vinegar out on the counter, they will take a swim and drown in it it. Use a paper or plastic cup, cause "it ain't pretty" when it's full of dead bugs and you can just throw it out.
Cottage: have fun at the zoo!!!
Kiko...you have a super day too!
Me: Just working this morning, then off to school and then the grocery store. My husband has to go in to work today from 2-till midnight, so "date afternoon" is off today. So I'll just work this afternoon and hit the gym. I usually don't go on Fridays. Then I think tomorrow we are going in to New Orleans to a great nursury called "The green parrot". They have it all fixed up again and are back in business. And then we are going to find someplace great to go eat.
Ruth: I'm glad you're trying to get back to normal. Enjoy the gym and have a wonderful weekend! Can I stop by later and see what you've got cooking?
Cottage: Sounds like a fun day for you and the girls. I used to love going to the zoo when I lived in the city. Just be careful about those elephants! They're mean!
, Kiko! Have a great day.
Femme: What a bummer about your date this afternoon, but at least you and DH rescheduled for tomorrow! Are you looking for anything in particular at the nursery, or just going to browse? (I love browsing!)
As for me, I'm just really enjoying this waking-up-early thing. I could get used to it for sure! I got another good walk in, but it's hard not sweating that much! I'm used to working up a HUGE sweat when I work out! Oh well - doc's orders.
I actually didn't sleep well last night because DH was on the phone until goodness knows when. I have to be forgiving, though. One of his best friends ships off to Iraq today and they had a big farewell party last night. The phone just kept getting passed around and DH got to chat with most of his old college buddies. I hate that he had to miss it. His friend is leaving a wife and 5 yr. old stateside. I just can't imagine 9 months without DH!!
Well, time to go start another crock-pot meal. Beef and beans over brown rice. We'll see how it is! By the way, the chicken tortilla soup last night was beyond delicious. I'll post the recipe this weekend!
Morning chicks a quickie for me lots going on. Trying to get the last minute stuff organized so I can have a free weekend. Tuesday things will be back to normal for me and I will be able to post more. Have a great.....
Good Morning Girls,
Yeah, it is Friday. I have been longing for a long weekend. Tonight I am going to get my cleaning done, so I have the weekend free to do what I want. I hope to get alot of sewing in. My son comes home tomorrow night, I can't wait.
I don't think I will be able to post this weekend, my computer is down at home. Have a great 3 days off, be safe.
Happy Friday!!! Still in the planning stages of the weekend, might go hiking/tubing at a beautiful state park or goto the zoo in indianapolis, not sure yet, guess we will just wing it!
Cottage - I just love the zoo (could be why we are thinking of going ourselves!) have a great time!
Ruth - Hope Lucy does well, it's so hard when our furkids are sick!
Cat - have fun at the nursery, I love just looking around!
Lisa - I am thinking of you today!
Kim, Kiko, LC, and BK have a great day and a great weekend!
Me - well I am going to post something here in a minute that has a smile on my face today! Oh and for those who sent up prayers for my son's little financial glitch at school, a very generous donor at church offered to pay 2/3 of what he needed and my boss bonused me the rest!
Cottage, sounds like a super-fun day yesterday! Those girls are SO lucky to have you! My friend's pool was always in the shade and was kind of greenish...none of us ever suffered any adverse effects from it. At least I don't think so! Have fun at the zoo...I'm jealous!
for you and Lucy, Ruth. *sniff* But I had to about the fruit flies...it's the same way in my kitchen. I keep buying organic or local fruit...but it just doesn't last very long, so I have to keep an eagle eye out for overripe fruit. Darned fruit flies! Where do they come from, anyway? (or do I not want to know...) Have fun with the cooking, and GOOD for you for going to the gym in spite of everything!
Hi, Kiko!
Cat, I hope you have a great day...but tomorrow sounds faboo! Have fun!
Kim, your dinner last night sounds awesome! Looking forward to the recipe! Tonight's sounds good too. So sorry about your husband's friend...it's so hard for the families.
Weezle, my prayers are with you, hon!
Have a great weekend, LC! Hope you get some R&R to make up for all this work!
BKstitch, you're so virtuous! I haven't done much cleaning this week, but I doubt I'll do it this weekend either! Good for you, though! Your sewing sounds like great fun...enjoy your reunion with your son!
Pacergal, can't wait to read your post. Glad to hear things worked out with your son.
Me:
Well, it's one of the first holidays in a long time that will actually be a holiday from work for me! I'm actually appreciating it more, especially since I was supposed to work on Monday...it'll be a four day weekend for me, counting my day off on Tuesday. Yay! It'll be SO nice to have DH home. We're hoping to do one of the local bike tours or trails in the books we bought when we got our bikes a couple weeks ago. I'm still like a newborn colt on my bike some days, but I'm learning.
Planning on going to the gym after work today--so far that's worked well, though I did sleep in yesterday instead of going walking with my friend!
Hope all our American chickies have a fantastic Labor Day Weekend!
Happy Friday, my favorite day!!
I made my August weight goal today, by the skin of my teeth.
Just another normal day around here, work, laundry, groceries, feed the neighbor's cat, pizza at my mom's tonight.
Not much going on this weekend either. Cleaning, DS has horseback riding, and I hope to take full advantage of the pool all three days until it closes. Maybe get together with my friend and her family who have been away for the last few weeks. It's kind of nice to be at loose ends, seems like we've had some big project every weekend recently.
I am in the mood to shop, and I wanted to reward myself for 25 lbs. I still feel it's a little early to buy clothes though, and I did order a couple of things online yesterday, some new undies and a couple of tops. So maybe I'll buy the Dining Guide and one or two of the SB cookbooks I've been wanting. Tempting with all the sales this weekend!
cottage, have fun at the zoo! Kim, LOL, did you have a bad encounter with an elephant? Lisa, what is happening today? I must have missed something. Hope everything is okay. beachgal, enjoy your break! We really liked the buffalo chicken strips last night. Ruth, I've got a kitchen full of fruit flies too. But that's cause I still need to take the compost out from last night. It sure does get fed a lot more since SBD. I'm sure Lucy is happy to be back home. bkstitch, happy sewing, I miss my sewing days. Steph, that is amazing! I know you are so relieved. Kiko, littlechick, missmess and Cat, have a great day!
OH, almost forgot! I saw the funniest commercial lastnight! Has anyone seen the new one for weight watchers where the lady is running to catch the elevator and her skirt falls off tripping her and she slides head first into the elevator (in her slip) just as the doors close, dragging her skirt up the door? I laughed until I almost cried! Classic!
LC: Yay for free weekends! I'm going to do the same tonight so that I can just relax this weekend!
bkstitch: Have fun with your son and with all the sewing!
Pacer: PTL for your son and his school expenses being met! Hope you have fun - if you do go to the zoo, WATCH OUT FOR THOSE ELEPHANTS!!!
beachgal: Doing a bike trail with DH sounds fun! I don't think my DH will ever get on a bike again ~ unless it says "Harley" on it!
missmess: Hiya! Have a great day!
Schmoodle: Yes, I'm deathly afraid of elephants. All those "When animals attack" shows don't help it either. I don't know how it started - maybe I was having a bad day when we rented "Dumbo" as a kid. Anyhow, I have to make a big circle around the elephant area at the zoo and I go hide in the bathroom if we're at a circus and the elephants come out. Talk about an irrational phobia!!
