It's good to get past the binge and recommit to your program. I think Cousin has a good point, though, about disconnecting food and mood.
Pigging out is never a good thing!

Consider someone trying to abstain from alcohol--who goes out drinking excessively--then says the next day, "I'm glad I got that out of my system!" Well, it's not out of their system, they're just still feeling satisfied. So in a comparable way, it's easy to feel OK after a day of eating excessively.
So, just be aware that the feeling can be misleading. Overeating isn't something to get out of one's system, in my opinion--it's something to be avoided.
