Default Help! I can't get back on track!

I fee like such a failure. Ever since I got back from my vacation I cannot get back to my diet and exercise! I have lost my motivation... and I need to get it back. I'll be good for about a day and then the next day I give into temptation. Its horrible, I need a good kick in the *** to get back on track

That is my main problem...the motivation....
I have to sit my alarm across the room...it makes me HAVE to get up.
I'll also pack my gym bag the night before (I work out at my work gym and get ready for work then go straight to work) that way all I have to do it get up and go..same with packin my lunch..
If I do slip and sleep in, I'll try to get a little walk around my workplace on my lunch break...
My motivation is that old saying- You Gotta Move to Lose! Whether it is a small 30 minute walk to a long 2 hours jog.
Also...my motivation is my fiance's deployment....he leaves for Baghdad soon and he'll be gone 12 months...he's gonna come back all buffed and in shape....and I wanna look good too! That doesnt help you any...I'm sorry....Also, I just FEEL better after a workout...energized...ready to go...I love going to bed at night knowing I did good for the day. Keep up the good work...You can do it! Just tell yourself....you are your WORST critic...dont get down on yourself for a few mess ups.... we all do it! Just get up and go...and you'll be glad you did! I still have a long ways to go....so we are all here for ya.... Good luck!

a few words of wisdom that others have passed along to me that I've found helpful...

1. NO food tastes as good as skinny feels
2. Motivation is a luxury, don't feel like you can't do something because you don't feel motivated, go anyway!
3. Plan ahead, plan ahead, plan ahead. If you lunch is already packed and meals planned the night before, it makes it alot easier to stay OP.

hope these help a little!

I like your tips denice81, I am just now getting back on track after my 1 month break I guess you could call it. I am sick of feeling like crap and need to get in gear. I am lucky to have my mom who is helping me with staying motivated and my dad who took a horrible picture of me, that showed me what I really look like right now and let me tell you that is such a motivation. I dont want to look like that and more importantly I want to be healthier.

Whenever I'm having trouble with food temptations or lazy-don't-wanna-work-outs, I come on here and find pics of our maintainers. I think to myself, "Oh wow...I want to look like that." and BAM! I'm back on plan.

Thumbs up

First of all, BoopRN, let me just say, you are not a failure! You are on here working on getting your motivation back and that is the first step.

Hopefully you're not beating yourself up too harshly for having some troubles getting back on the wagon, because sometimes that can have a bad affect on motivation you know?

As for what motivates me:
1. Looking at the before and after pics of people who have lost weight. I always love a success story.
2. Thinking about how *fabulous* I'll look after I lose some weight. (I usually try to give myself a confidence boost by saying something like, I'm gonna be gorgeous when I'm thin, 'cause I'm already beautiful)(by the way I just do this as a joke, I'm not the best looking chica out there, but I've heard positive thought processes help more than negative beat-yourself-up stuff, so I'm giving it a try.)
3. I plan, I make sure I have a game plan of exercise and I sort of know what I'm going to be eating in a day.
4. I record. I write down my exercise and my food intake in a journal. Even on the days I eat not-so-great foods. I also try to pay attention - on days when I don't eat so well I feel like crap, where as on days when I'm eating whole foods I feel great.
5. I'm getting into dietician work, and I tell myself I have to look the part if I'm going to be giving people nutrition advice one day.

So come on, you are worth it. Take it one day at a time. You can do it!

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone. Although I do feel like a failure in some way b/c I didn't make my Labor Day goal. I am now trying to get back on track and get my motivation going. Im now going for a Thanxgiving goal. Hopefully this one will be more realistic.

Just remember that the food will always be there tomorrow. If you think of it that way, you can have a bite or two and not feel like it's your last meal.
