I know how you feel. Often my bf tries to complement me and I turn it into an insult. He'll be like "oh you're so small, I love it" and the ED voice says "yeah and he'll love you more if you're smaller" or he'll say "everything on you is small, except for your butt, but I love it" and all I hear is "you have a big butt!"

He goes through the same thing with me. i want to really believe him when he says i'm beautiful, but all i can think is that he just does'nt want to say i look like a pig and hurt my feelings. i'm trying hard to learn to accept a compliment, but it isn't easy.

Emily, I think it is great that you recognize that it is the ED voice and not Emily's voice.

Emily, there is no "thin enough" when it comes to ED.

I think he was just trying to protect you from yourself, which is actually a very loving thing to do.
