Default Junk Food is Outta here!

Soo.. I'm pretty excited. All my food that is not so great for you is finally out of my pantry and gone! I couldn't just throw my food out like I wanted to since we're on a tight budget. So all I have now is healthy snacks and whole grain foods with plenty of veggies and fruit and lean proteins. I finally also found my old food scale for me to weigh my foods to have the correct portion size. I've also made a decision to completely cut out fast food period since I calculated how much we spend on fast food a month and it was about $200. It really was an eye opener to see how much we spend on take out and fast food and restaurant food and I've been doing the "healthy" options which I have been doing for quite some time whenever we eat out. That could be spent on things we actually enjoy doing instead of sitting around the house so bored and then that's when I tend to eat mindlessly or it could be put into a savings account. I also ate a chicken sandwich the other day from Wendy's and to me it tasted horrible. So I guess my taste buds are really changing. So I definitely think that my ticker will be moving along again soon.

Way to go! You've set yourself up for success. You're so right about how your taste for fast food can change. Once you get past the craving for artifiical fat and salt, then you start to crave real food with real flavors.

Yay for you!!

Great moves! Goodbye junk!

Yeah, that's such a bind--you can't throw away the bad foods because the budget is tight... and yet you spend $200 a month on fast food.

I agree with Meg--your tastes for that food will change. They lose their appeal after you've been eating better foods for awhile.

Keep going! You can do it!

JayEll- I'm a bit ashamed to admit that on here since I had no idea it was that much. I assumed at most $75 a month for eating out. No wonder our budget is/was tight! Mindless spending is all I can call it!

But I am really happy and my husband seems on board about the no fast food thing as well since he needs to lose weight himself and I also promised him if I lost more weight I would feel more up to doing things since right now my back/hips hurt.

This is great. Just great. Setting your home up with healthy foods is one of the best things we can do. Having a controlled and healthy environment is KEY, absolutely key in obtaining a healthy and fit life.

I applaud your decision to do without the fast food. And boy oh boy, I couldn't agree more, it's amazing, simply amazing how ones tastes buds change - and fairly quickly I might add. My body now craves and throroughly ENJOYS all the healthy stuff I am eating. It's sooo much better then the junk.

So, yes I think you definitely WILL be moving that old ticker down before not too long.
