Angry Out of control - UGH!

OMG, so I set a goal of losing 5lbs. for the month of August, and I swear I am out of control! I can't seem to stay out of the chips aisle, am downing the soda and mixed drinks, and am way behind on my water consumption. To top it off, I recently injured my foot and am unable to exercise. UGH!!! I swear it's like I've got endless PMS!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.

Aww sorry to hear that! I've been experiencing difficulty too being on plan. Just take it easy on your foot. Maybe you could go swimming and that would be a form of exercise without putting weight on your foot?

Hey 10again,

Hope you can find a way to stop going down that chips aisle... Maybe just pay attention to the thoughts you're having when you head that way... I'm sure they must not be about losing 5 pounds, but what are they about? Are they, "I've worked hard and I deserve this"? Are they, "Oh, heck with it, I'm going to have some fun"? Or "This weight loss idea won't work--nothing matters anyway"? It might help to see what's going on.

When you're ready to lose, you'll be better able to stay away from that aisle, the sodas, etc. After all, I assume no one is dragging you down there and taping the bag of chips to your hand and then later putting the chips into your mouth...?

You have to find a way! Good luck!

Jay

My best solution for fighting that chip aisle aside from not going down it...make certian you're not even a little hungry when you go grocery shopping. It has worked wonders for me.

I've read that it's best to have a LIST before you go shopping, stick with the list, don't even go down the chips isle for goodness sake, there's nothing good down that isle, grab some water, skip the pop - or if you must have fizz get the sparkling water and add some fruit to flavor. I tried the eating chips/pizza/endless pms diet last winter and it lead to a 20 lb weight gain!

Default New day, new attitude...

Well, I think I'm feeling a bit better here. I turned 40 this year and I think it was a little rougher than expected. Plus, I have a hard time determining PMS time since I've had a hysterectomy. I'm pretty sure that was going on last week, though. Tomorrow my kids start school and I'm using that as my "New Year's" time. Great new start for us all. I should be able to get rid of the junk, focus on me, and start losing weight. My first goal is five pounds, so I think that is manageable. Wish me luck!
