Default Wipin' up the puddles

Okay, this is a gym etiquette story. There was a new person at the gym this morning, or at least someone I (and others) have never seen. Not sure what she was doing before I got there, but she had obviously been working hard. She had amazing arms that I noticed right away--I was green with envy! Anyway, she sat down at the rowing machine next to my DH and proceeded to row like her life depended on it. My DH later said that he had a hard time trying not to match her pace (as if he could!).

After the robot rower got up and left, DH said there were monumental puddles around the machine. One of the floor staff had to get paper towels and clean up the mess, and she was trying to put the used towels in the trash by putting them between her feet and jumping up so she wouldn't have to touch them. Didn't work, however, but it was amusing to watch. DH was happy that the robot rower didn't have long hair that she liked to fling out of her face--he would have been soaked for sure.

Frankly, I've never seen a person sweat that much. I didn't even know it was humanly possible. The moral of the story, though, is to clean up the puddles you leave or people will talk about you!

Oh crikey! That was me!!!

Ok, I'm kidding. I don't live in Oregon and I always clean up after myself Really though, you'd think that a person who was fit enough to have massive cardio power and great arms would know enough about gym etiquette to clean up after herself. It's kinda Gym 101.

Most gyms have spray bottles of cleaner and paper towel dispensers strategically located. Unfortunately, lots of people ignore them both on the cardio machines and the weight benches.

Just another reason I bring my own towel, lift with gloves, and always wash my hands between sessions!

AND... that's why I always wipe down the machines (all of them) with the spray before and after use.... EWWWW!

What's wrong with people? I wish there was more enforcement on that in the gyms. Especially during the flu season...

Oh, well... I'll just keep wiping!

Just a story about my gym. There's a nice man who really sweats on the elliptical. After his workout, he spends about 5 minutes wiping down the whole machine and a 2foot area around it on the floor. This is even if he sees the cleaning lady with her mop and pail.

All I can say, is ewwwww! I always wipe a machine, even if I'm just doing a 5 minute warm-up before I lift. My gym keeps a spray bottle and towels in all of the areas. They tried using packaged wipes, but people complained. They preferred the spray and towel.

What I REALLY dislike at our gym is that the towel used for wiping gets wet from all the wiping that just touching this towel probably has MORE germs than I left on my machine... Sometimes I don't wipe because I don't dare touch the towel... EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW ....

And I recently saw something I'd never thought about - and now shudder when I think of it. We have this guy who uses the exercise bike and treadmill and sweats more than most folks. He does wipe down his machines - but he gets off dripping wet and soaking and uses an exercise ball, which he does not wipe.
