Default My struggle with PCOS!

I am new here!

I am 23. Height-5'4" My current weight is 147. My high weight is 163. My goal is 125.

Here's my story....
All through out high school I was small I was always between 110-125, but I was very active bc I was cheerleader. After high school I got married and started gaining weight. I thought the weight gain was from being "happy". Anyways after I was married for 2 years DH and I decided to start TTC. We tried for a year with no luck so we decided to see a specialist. She immediately diagnosed me with PCOS it was Dec. 06. I had never heard of PCOS but when she explained what it was and all the symptoms it made sense. I had all the symptoms...irregular cycles, hair growth on face and around nipples, weight gain, and I even saw the cysts on the US. I was prescribed Glucophage and clomid and started taking it in Jan 07. I lost 1 or 2 lbs the first 2 months I was taking it w/o any dieting or exercise. In March DH and I decided to stop TTC so I called the RE and she told me to continue to take the Glucophage and gave me some extra refills. I continued taking it and started kinda watching what I ate and exercising a little and I lost 19 lbs in 4 months. Well I stopped taking the Gluc. bc I read about it and the side effects really scared me. Since I have stopped taking it I have gained 5 lbs back.

I have been writing down everything that goes into my mouth and exercising 4 days a week for almost a month now and I havent lost anything! I am sooo frustrated. I am so glad I found this sight!

Welcome!

Were you experiencing any of the side effects from Glucophage? If you weren't and it was helping, you might want to consider weighing the benefits over the risks.

I highly recommend taking your measurements if you haven't already. Sometimes the scale only tells part of the story and you can see progress in your body even if your weight stays the same.

Good Luck, congrats on your weightloss so far even with the blip, and again, welcome to the board.
