Default How long before you started getting results?

I want to lose weight in the next two weeks, I'm already kinda skinny just a little on the chubby side.

How long did it take you before you started to see results? Because I know that the start of a diet can sometimes be a little slow. I want to be safe but I also want to lose quite a bit of weight. How much do you think I should aim for?

please reply! I'm on my hands and knees here!

Well, to be honest I didn't notice a difference in the mirror until I'd lost about 20 pounds. I lost most of my weight off of my upper torso (face, breasts, upper back) first, and only recently started to notice it coming off of my lower body. It may just be my perception...but I've just started noticing it in the mirror more recently, and I'm 32 pounds down at this point. It may be different for you, since you're already very skinny.

I'd suggest maybe thinking about lifting weights to tone up instead of focusing on losing weight--you may just need to tone your body instead of trying to get rid of fat.

S/C/G: Lost 50 lbs, regained some

Hey tomatosouplove,

For someone who is overweight or obese, it usually takes more of a loss to make a noticeable difference. No one noticed I had lost until I got down 15 pounds or so.

But also--you must have dieted before, since your start weight is 150 and your current weight is 109. So, you already have had some experience with weight loss. A healthy rate of weight loss is said to be 1-2 pounds per week. If you embark on a plan at your current weight, I'd be surprised if you could lose any more than that per week. So, in two weeks you could lose 2 to 4 pounds. If you had in mind that you could get to 95 in two weeks, I'd say--nope, put it out of your mind!

Azure's suggestion about toning is a good one. Firm up what you have, and your clothes will fit better and you'll feel better, even at the same weight.

Why the sudden rush? Just curious.

Jay

Hi. Another 5 footer! Amazing. I hardly ever meet any in "real" life, yet here at 3FC there are loads of us.

I see you've already lost 41 lbs. That's incredible. Congratulations. At 109lbs you're already on the slim side. To get to 95 lbs you would be on the very edge of the "normal" range. Anything lower then that and you'd be underweight. I'm not sure of your age, but if you are young, remember that you still have some growing to do and you wouldn't want to jeopardize that by eating too little and getting too thin. Your body needs lots of fuel to keep growing. Good fuel, with lots of minerals and vitamins.

As far as seeing results goes, 2 weeks time might just be a little too speedy to expect to notice something. If only because at your current weight it will take some time for you to start losing. The heavier you are the faster the weight usually comes off. And you're not heavy at all.

What kind of plan do you have in mind to lose the weight? You say you want to do it safely, well that's good. Lots of lean proteins, veggies, fruits and whole grains and watching your portions, staying between 1200 - 1500 calories. I know you're anxious to see results, but doing things safely is really much more important then doing it quickly. You want these results to last, not just be some quick fix, where it's no fix at all because you wind up gaining it right back.

Don't forget to add in some exercise a few days a week. This can help greatly since you really are at a healthy weight. Maybe a little bit of exercise is all you need to get the "look" and feel that you are after, because again at 109 lbs you really don't have much if ANYthing to lose.

Remember, it's more important to do things safely - then quickly. Good luck!

I've lost 40 lbs so far, and no one has even noticed. So, yep, the bigger you are, the more you have to lose before anyone sees any results.

Welcome aboard, tomatosouplove!

I noticed results right away. The first week or two I lost 3-4 lbs and noticed my face was thinner and belly fat was dropping away a bit. Of course, a good bit of that first weight loss was probably fluids, but it still was good to see! It really seems to depend on the person. I would recommend increasing exercise and weight lifting at first in order to see better results.

Well i think it all depends on what plan you are going on? For me, it was 11 pounds the first month on Nutrisystem. It varies from plan to plan, your level of activity etc, but the best advice I can give whatever plan you're on, drink lots of water!!! It really does work!!

I noticed a change in my face around 10 lbs. but I didn't go down an actual clothing size until I'd lost 20 lbs.
