Hello from sunny Ohio!

I wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I joined the forum yesterday and found my way to your little corner this morning. My name is Catie, I'm 36, married and have a 2 year old son, Graham. We live in Lebanon, Ohio and I work as a Human Resources Manager at a manufacturing company.

My husband and I sent hiking in Kentucky last weekend and as I got to the top of the mountain, red faced, winded and sweaty....way more than anyone else, I realized I needed to do something about the fatness. So here I am. Dieting is hard for me as I fall into old habits easily, so I am trying to make some new habits to help me on the way. So I'm starting to blog, walk, stop eating out, etc.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you better!

Karen, Ugh. Hope you can get the kiddos back on schedule! That is soo awesome that Alex is reading and doing math!! Peter's not, but his teacher told me a couple weeks ago that he's starting to show a lot of interest in words and she thinks he almost ready to start learning to read.
As for the coffee maker, DH would kill me if I bought another one! I have a regular timer 12 cup, a Senseo (that I use everyday) and another cup at a time one in the attic. I like the Senseo, but DH said he could snag me a sleeve of 20 oz. cups from work, so I'll probably pull out the big pot and make a 1/2 a pot.

Laurie, I guess that's better than drinking one bottle of wine, huh? How old is the little girl you're adopting?

Michelle, sorry to hear things are not going well for DH. I thought cops were always in demand?? I hope he finds something good fast.

John, Sorry you lost out on the job. Was that for a 2nd job, or a new F/T job? Hope something else comes along soon. What a horrible accident.

Christina, Hope all goes well with the family counselling today! We only made it to one dealership yesterday, Toyota. She likes the Highlander, but she doesn't want to pay that much for a car, so she may go with the Rav 4, which she drove. I don't think she'll be happy with it though. I want her to check out some other cars too. She needs something that sits up higher, like my van, because she can't get out of her car by herself anymore.

Joan, Was everyone thrilled this AM for the first day of school? Are you enjoying your alone time?

Lisa, How about a job as a Marketing Admin?? Maybe that could help you get your foot in the door, if you don't mind admin type work? It would pay more than retail!

OK, gotta go get moving. Peter is home with pink eye today, so I've gotta get us all washed and dressed. Have a great day all!

Hi Catie!! Glad you found us! Hey, maybe you can get Lisa a job at your company! I think she's probably only a couple hours away.
Have you started any kind of "formal" plan? Is DH in it with you? That would be a great help!

Good morning everyone!

I know I am on vacation but today I have a major inspection. which is fine I will get her gone with in an hour. The kids and I are leaving for billings in the morning for school shopping. School starts on Monday here. I am not excited about that at all. I enjoy having my kids around, most of the time until they start fighting. I like the routine but hate dealing with the IEP crap. My son who is 16 and going to be a junior now is going to be in an IEP for depression, which will help. This school just monkeys around. I want to walk up to DH and say look "bleep bleep bleep" this is the problem but he wouldn't really hear me I don't think. The family counseling is doing well but the kids are not ready yet for dad to join in. Hopefully soon that will be the case. It is amazing what you see when you sit back and observe!!!

Michelle: Here in Worland they are always looking for Police officers. I have the upmost respect for them. They are fighting one heck of a battle that just is very bad with drugs, etc and let's hope they win!! Good luck.

Heather: Tell me about it I remember my oldest crying everyday until he was in 7 th grade it was such a relief and now I look back and think **** that was easy compared to now. Take lots of pics. That is what I do it is funny to see the difference a few years makes.

Catie: Welcome you will love it here.

GG: Hey lady I am having me a Hazelnut cappachino today {Skinny}

Where the heck is mo? She has such HOT posts! You know the hot warm waffles with butter, maple syprup some pecans and whip cream you all know exactly what I am talking about?

Have a great day all and stay focused!!!

Morning Everyone,
Welcome Catie! Glad you joined our little corner of the world! You will find wonderful supportive people here.
GG hope you have another busy day at work today. Just two more days and dh is home for good. Yeah!!
Lauren hope Peter's pink eye isn't too bad and it heals fast. Hope you can talk your mom into looking at a few more cars. Sounds like you have an idea of what kind of car she needs. Good luck!
Heather, enjoy your time today. I know it goes by fast when they start school. My stepkids when I met them were 4,4, and 6. I remember when they did the cute little plays in school now they are in 4th grade and 6th grade. Now it is more of the serious stuff.
Well I better go and get ready for the day! Chat with you later today.
Hope you enjoy your day!
Love ya,

Good Morning to all!!

I woke up this morning and got in my workout. It is starting to get easier to do but I still hate it. My DH and I are doing this together and he has NOT been working out. Had to chew him out this morning because I think it so important that we stay strong together and help each other get motivated when we cant. So he promised he would go for a long walk at work. Im feeling OK about that but need to get him into a routine. He commutes about an hour each way and he has to get up at 5:30 to leave at 6:30. He gets home at 6 and has dinner and then is ready for bed at 9 and doesnt feel he has the time. I feel like we have to MAKE the time, ya know?

Also, woke up lil Sophie (who is our 18 mo. old soon to be adopted daughter) and Bella my 6 yr old. Soph had the WORST diarrhea that I have seen. ALL over her and the bed and everything. So had to give her ANOTHER bath. Change her sheets. Was sooo gross, I almost vomited. Felt like I should be wearing one of those toxic chemical suits or something!!
BUT...after she was all clean, was sooooo adorable and making some cute baby talk.

Lauren, So sorry to hear about the pink eye. Bella had that last spring and everyone got it. I even carried that anti bacterial stuff and put it on ALL the time. Be careful.

Catie...Welcome Welcome. I am new here too!!

Heather, Will be thinking of you today. Bella doesnt start until Sept. But is starting FIRST GRADE. I cant believe it. Yesterday she was my lil BABY and now she is going to school all day!! I know she will love it though. She spends all day with me at the shop so I know she gets bored sometimes (no matter what I do to keep her occupied).

Well, chat with you all later!!

Laurie

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Lebanon is in between Dayton and Cincinnati...so southwest Ohio. My husband works in Cincinnati and has about a 30 minute commute home. Our little town is full of antique shops and stores and the Golden Lamb Inn. We love it here as we are old house fans and our circa 1901 house is a short walk from the downtown with the library, parks and the ice cream parlor!

http://www.lebanonchamber.org/

As far as my husband being in on all this with me...I'm not really doing a formal plan. I know I probably should and am doing some research, but it's hard to get to WW meetings while working and chasing a 2 year old. My husband is really supportive in general. He's never had weight issues, and I'm pretty much in charge of the food in our house, so he'll eat whatever I make for dinner. Or if he cooks, and I am dieting, he'll make sure it's healthy. He plays raquetball, so I know he'll really support me coming along to the YMCA with him to work out. He's a really good guy whose habits overall are a lot better than mine, so I don't think he'll be a roadblock. Today I'm going to buy a new pair of tennis shoes and a scale.

Laurie, I'm so sorry to hear about the mess. I remember a month or so ago when I was holding Graham on my lap and he threw up on me for the first time. I looked at my husband Dennis and said, "I officially feel like a mom."

Lisa, good luck on the job search!

Heather, enjoy your first day of (the kids') school. Bittersweet, but PEACEFUL, I would imagine.

Hi Catie welcome!

Laurie- I'm in the same boat as your DH. I drive an hour each way to work. I up by 8am leave at 9am and don't get home till 8:30pm most nights. I try to be in bed around 11:30pm. From the time I get home I cook dinner and eat and relax till 9:30pm then I'm out the door walking I get in at about 10:30pm each night. Shower and chill till bed. I'm trying to get up at 7am so I can do a short walk (about a mile) but just can't seem to get out of my nice warm soft bed.

I did my longest walk so far last night. 3.5 miles for 908 cals. I've lost the weight I put back on from my trip to my moms and that of my self destruction of last week. Been On plan since Monday and still going strong but I've been hungry a lot. I fine chew gum till my jaw hurts helps in me not eating cause I just don't want to chew lol.

The job was a side job for some extra cash nothing more. I've been with this company now in my 7th year. I work Tue thru Sat with sun and mon off. I work till the work is done so I'm not always off at the same time and by the time I get home its 8:30 and its hard finding places that would work me that late for any amount of time that would be worth it. Plus I'm on call 24/7 tho rare it does happen that I have to go out at 3am.

Plus in the winter I sleep at the shop during snows so I can go 3 days before seeing home and go 18 to 38 hrs without sleep. So second job kinda out of the question so I pick up single day job here and there. And scraping metals to pick up extra bucks.

Hey all! Thanks for the words or encouragement this morning.
The kids got off without a hitch and I went to the YMCA. I did 1 hr. on the elliptical. It felt good to be back in the swing of things. I am also going to sign up for a personal trainer. Would you guys suggest 30 min sessions 2-3 times a week? Or hour sessions twice a week. I'm not sure. Depending on the route I go it will be between $150-200 a month. 1/2 is $16--full hour is $26..NOt sure what to do yet. Any suggestions?
Welcome Catie. I am new here myself. Only been here a couple of days. But I love it already. I hope you can get in a good routine/plan that works for you.
Sheila- Have fun school shopping. Are the kids ready for school? I always miss mine. But they were so bored and fighting constantly. They were ready. I am really lucky that both of my kids love school.
Lauren- I hope the pink eye gets better soon. Usually when one of mine get it we all get it. Wash those hands alot..lol Have a great day.
Laurie- I feel for you this morning. YUCK! I hope soph is feeling better. Is Bella ready for school? Brett was so excited. He told my sister this morning on the phone that he new all about 1st grade b/c he researched it. The things he says. Bobby (4th grade) is just an "old pro"..lol.
I will try and post pics of them in the kids link above.
Well hello and big hugs to everyone i missed. I am going to the grocery store and to the book store I think.
Chat with ya later
