Red face New, 53, my knees hurt and ton of weight to lose!!

Hi - I'm 53, just celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary and need to lose close to 100lbs. I know how I got this way, but now I need help and friends to help me lose the weight. I hope I find it here. I keep falling back to old habits. My knees hurt and I really need to take off the weight.

Hey Ninaloy, Come on over to the 50+ groups. You'll find plenty of company and support there. Introduce yourself, and jump right in. That's what everybody else has done & you can, too.

Welcome!

E!

I've had the same problem. I was very frustrated, because I was walking for about an hour a day to lose weight, and then I had so much sharp pain in my left knee that I was afraid I might need surgery.

I started seeing a physical therapist a couple of months ago, and it has made an amazing difference. She told me I had the symptoms of "runner's knee", even though I'd never run for exercise. She's treated it with ultrasound, and stretches, and given me exercises to do at home. I still feel pain sometimes, like when I run for the bus, or if I twist while I'm standing on one leg, but now I can go out and walk for 3-4 miles without significant pain.

Okay I found it. You had the link typed wrong in your message. Gotta put a dash in between diet and blog. Your blog is interesting but it doesn't say how you lost the weight so quickly? Was it walking alot? and counting calories? Details, I need details!! Please?

Welcome Nina!
Can you stand one more invitation to the Golden Girls? I have a total of 95 pounds to dispose of & in my mind, the more the journey the merrier.

You certainly can do this, we all are slow as Christmas but we're going the right direction!
Take care & see you later!

Hi Nina

Nice to "meet" you. I'm 51 and know what you mean about knee pain. Part of the reason I want to lose weight is that I know the knee and hip pain, especially in the cold winter months, are mostly due to the extra weight.

In the last couple months I've lost 16 lbs., which is what two gallons of bottled water weighs (8 lb. each). I'm sure my joints are beginning to smile with relief

Have you been to www.fitday.com? It's free. Just one of the cool features is that you can track everything you eat (quick and easy) and get specific info on calories ... especially fat calories & the % of fat. Has really been a huge help for me.

Hope to see you around, and good luck

Hello and welcome to 3FC. I'm 43. I started my journey just over 11 months ago when I was 42. My knees were ALWAYS killing me. I was so horribly inactive. That has all changed. I am now full of energy and am constantly in motion. So, yeah, you CAN do this.

Please come and visit and participate in the 100lb club forum, located in Support Groups. We've got lots of people there who know exactly what you are going through. We're all in this together. Good luck to you.
