Default Major accomplishment today!

My husband brought home a bunch of homemade chocolate cupcakes (my favorite) from work today that someone had made him because it's his birthday this week. I could easily have eaten 6 of those little darlings, but I only had one! That is a VERY big deal for me, because one of my biggest issues is portion sizes. I usually eat BIG meals. So, it doesn't even matter if I gain a little weight today, because I did my exercise and I controlled myself when I had the opportunity to fall off the wagon. I am actually not expecting to lose any weight this week because we are spending the day out on Thursday for my husband's birthday, and we are also going out to dinner on Sunday for our wedding anniversary. Unlike most dieters, when I have these special occasions, I eat whatever I want. I am just not the type of person that can order salad and chicken at a restaurant. I spend enough of my time these days eating that kind of food when I am home. Since I don't get the opportunity to go out much, I enjoy it to the fullest when I do, and more importantly, without any guilt. Anyway, today, at least, I am very proud of myself!

Shirley - You deserve to be proud! Stopping at one cupcake is fantastic! Things like that make us feel like we can balance losing weight with eating the occasional item and therefore not feel like we have to give up on life just because we need to watch what we eat.
