Ok, so I started my weight loss plan (calorie-counting, healthier foods, and working out) just under 3 weeks ago. I have lost about 5 pounds so far, and am happy with the progress I'm making. Thus far, I've been eating around 1200 calories a day (sometimes 1100, sometimes 1300) with one "free meal" a week where I don't worry about calories or healthfulness (haha, is that a word?). But the calorie calculator I used told me according to my level of activity, I should be eating around 1500 calories/day to lose 2 pounds/week. I workout with light weights 5 mornings/week, jog 3 times/week (just starting C25K), and bike 3 times/week for 30-45 minutes. But now I'm scared to move up to 1500 calories!!! So my question to you all is, does this sound right? Should I go ahead and move up, or stay where I'm at? What do you think?
5 pounds in three weeks? Sounds OK.
How do you feel? Good? Do you have lots of energy for the things you must do and exercise too?
Since we have no idea what that free meal might be ... there's always that that can be tweaked. Without it ... 1200, 1300, 1500 ... sounds like a good range to me.
Probably if you averaged in that free meal, your average would be between 13 and 1500 anyway, right?

Hey there! I'm not sure about your exact calorie count but it sounds like you are doing great. I think from my own experience, you need enough calories to sustain your body as well as the exercise you partake in. It sounds as though you are pretty active which is great. Do you feel as though you are having enough caloric intake to keep you going?
Thanks for the input, ladies! I find that I'm getting through my days ok, but by the time I get home at 5 o'clock I am absolutely beat. I've been turning down friends wanting to meet in the evenings, even just for coffee, because I'm so tired! I do my workouts first thing in the morning and get through them fine, but I don't think I'd be able to do them in the evenings for lack of energy. That's sort of why I asked the question. I'm not sure if the fatigue is just because my workouts are catching up with me, or if I'm not taking in enough calories during the day.
Oh, and I take care of two school-age boys all day, which doesn't help, haha. In a few weeks school will start back and I'll be teaching (elementary special ed) so I'll still be run ragged by kids all day, haha.
Is the tiredness unusual? Maybe another little something wouldn't hurt. In the long run it probably doesn't matter if you lose a little slower, right? Gotta be able to keep up with those kids!
