Wink New from Arkansas

Hello,
I am new at the web site but very old at the dieting side of things. I am 51 years old and I think I am stuck in a rut....I have been heavy all of my adult life, and have been on every diet known to mankind, but I just realized something.....I don't think I really know how to start and finish a diet successfully or I would not be stuck in this rut.....I know I need to lose weight desperately for my health as well as for everything else, but I honestly don't know anymore how to start the correct way so I can come out on top and a winner.....please give some advice.....I don't really want to start another diet I want to change my lifestyle and eat correctly....no more fast food and quick dinners.....suggestions are greatly appreciated.....thanks

Welcome to the board! Do you have a particular plan in mind? Are there things that have or have not worked for you in the past?

I follow the South Beach Diet guidelines and I find that a wonderful lifestyle-change program. I have learned what foods can trigger cravings for me and I have learned to avoid them and replace them with other healthy options.

Browse around here and you'll find lots of options!

Hi Monie,
Welcome, feel free to roam around and you will find a plan that you will feel most comfortable with. You also get support and encouragment here. There alot of really wonderful people here.
Are you anywhere near Bentonville, by chance? I have a friend who lives there.
Remember, you can do this!

Monie, Hi and welcome. I live just outside of Ft. Smith Arkansas. This is really a great place for support and I wish you the very best of success in your wt. loss goals.

Personally, I did Atkins to lose the wt. then switched to calorie counting to keep it off for lifetime maintenance. Feel free to check around and see what you think will work best for you.

Monie, I never tried South Beach but I understand it also limits carbs especially in the beginning. Other than that, I'm really not sure what it entails.

Thanks for the compliment. I really do feel so much better now and my health is greatly improved.

Stick around on these forums, they are such great help in losing and maintaining wt. and in lifting one's spirit when we are feeling down. Congratulations on getting started and finding 3FC, I know you're gonna love it.

I liked this saying: "In a month you will be able to see the difference, in 3 months others will see the difference, in 6 months you won't believe it's you."

So, where do you live, you said outside of Fort Smith, which is where I am actually down past Fort Chaffee towards Charleston.....It looks like you may be the other way towards the Oklahoma side.....I am finally going to do this thing and do it right,,,,I have fought with a weight problem for so long and it is getting to where it is causing problems health wise....and I know things would be better between my and my husband, (if you know what I mean)?Sex sometimes seems a chore when you are fat., and I am there now....so wish me luck. I am going to the grocery store on my way home and get some stuff......thanks
