Default Wellbutrin

I am supposed to take Wellbutrin and Topamax but don’t take them. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in 2003. The reason I am not taking my medication is that my husband (who I love dearly and cannot be without) hates me on the medication. He hates my personality, hates the lack of sex and has threatened to leave me. I have a very low sex drive as it is and want to please him more then anything.

Is there anything I can do. Today I am suffering severely with my depression. I am having a very hard time and eating everything.

I am going to see my doctor on Tuesday to talk to her about what I can do.

While I do not suffer from bipolar/depression myself, many people close to me, including my son, do. I would never dream of asking them to stop their medicine to please me. Marriage advice is really not my thing, but just remember, you weren't born w/ him attached to your hip. You lived without him before. I hope you will follow your doctor's advice. Best of luck to you.

Thank you. I've been off and on medication for the past 4 years. I know I should take my meds but I wish I could live without them. My doctor knows that I go through this, too.

I am sorry you have to go through this. I too am Bi Polar and take the same meds you do. Fortunatly my hubby is very understanding about things and doesn't pressure me about my sex drive. He would rather see me not crying and in a better mood than in the mood to have sex. Good luck and just try to eat healthy. Tomorrow will be better.

I suffer from depression and am on Wellbutrin and Celexa. I definitly have varying mood swings, low sex drive and not much interest in going out. My husband basicaly told me to 'get better' or he'd leave. I could never go of my meds and that's what I told him. Then he left! He's been gone almost two years and I'm just getting over a major dipressive disorder that started soon after he left. I can't accept what he did but in some ways I understand it - in sickness and in health. I think I ranted a bit here so I guess I'm not totally over it. I hope you can come to terms with the meds and how YOU feel. Good luck with all of your decisions.

Hmm, the Topomax must be the drug responsible for the low sex drive, because I'm an Wellbutrin alone (for clinical depression) and my sex drive has increased substantially (and is a normal side effect for this drug). Is there anything besides Topomax that your doctor could maybe put you on that has fewer of the side effects your are experiencing? Sometimes it's a matter of getting the right medications. I definitely wouldn't quit taking them. You weren't "yourself" when you were going through the bi-polar swings, that's for sure. I hope that you find something that works for you. Best wishes to you on this.

if someone asks you to go off medication to benefit their own selfness, you better run.
I've been married for 23 years and I've been on about 15 different medications with many of them failing me. My husband has always been supportive and wants me emotionally well!!
wellbutrin has been a god-send for the sex drive... mine is up up up!!!
