Default So clumsy!!!

I tried to be sporty the other night, and went out to play basketball with my boyfriend.
I was running... and I fell.... and sprained my ankle!!!

The *new* me is actually upset that I won't be able to excercise!! That would not have been the case a couple of months ago. Geez. I need walking lessons or something.

I'm always so afraid that somehow I am going to pull a muscle or sprain something when I am exercising. Before, I would have thought no big deal...but now I would be upset about losing the work-out time.

I agree with the upset about being upset about not being able to exercise. I am terrible clumbsy and always end up hurting myself.

I'm clumsy too. Last Sept. I was walking down the stairs at work and tripped and hurt my foot. It started to swell on the side the size off a softball and got really bruised (almost black) from the tip of my little heel all the way to the heel. Turns out I sprained my ankle and tore ligaments in my foot, I had to go 3 months of physical therapy! Make sure you take care of that foot because a sprain can take longer and sometimes can almost be worse than a break (if its a clean break). Feel better!

Oh blahhhh. Don't tell me that!! I can't wait to get back into things. I feel all flabby today. I started to notice the brusing last night, the swelling has gone down a lot though.
Last time I sprained it, I totally fell down some stairs too. I need walking lessons!!

Do you have access to a pool?

You should try looking for a water aerobics program online. It's great for when you have a lower extremity injury because it eliminates the effect of gravity on your injured ankle.

It is possible to exercise around your injury...you just have to be a little more creative about it. Your physician may also have some suggestions as well.

Theres a gym by my house, but I'm not sure if they have one. And I am BROKE this week!!!
I've been doing little things, don't wanna hurt myself. In the next few days I should be ok to step it up a little.

When the swelling goes down I'd suggest getting some of those rubber bands you can do some exercises with to strengthen it. Here's a link that may help http://www.epodiatry.com/ankle-sprain.htm (scroll down towards the bottom)
