Red face There is more than corn in Indiana

Hello! I am here to tell you there is more than corn in Indiana. There are all the fattening things that reel a person in and wham bam......they have gained alot of weight. Today is my first day of many first days to start dieting and exercising my way towards a healthy lifestyle. I am very excited to be getting started and really want to make a change. I have had many ups and downs with my weight and I'm getting very tired of all the yo-yoing. My husband and I have been married for 15 years. I have a 19 year old step-daughter and 4 children of my own aging 8-13. Yes, if you do the math that is 4 in 5 years. Good bye girlish figure-hello stretch marks! I work fulltime as a special education teachers assistant with preschool children. I am a part time student working on my bachelors degree in early childhood education. My children are in many activities such as cubscouts (i'm a den leader), soccer, ballet, gymnastics, swim team. We are also involved in golf lessons right now also. My husband works on the RR so he leaves out of town on Sunday and doesn't come back home until Thursday night. You would think I would be a size 2 with all the running around I do instead of a 14/16. We are on vacation right now.(started yesterday) I had to go buy new shorts before we left and broke down crying in the store. Decided it was time to move my body!!!! I am looking forward to having the support I need. I started reading 3 fat chicks and a diet last night and have almost finished it. After lunch instead of watching my kids in the pool I am going to jump in and join them. Sorry to anyone else who may be at the pool and see the view. There is a treadmill here at the hotel and I am contemplating wrestling with it tonight or tomorrow. Should be quite comical to anyone who may be watching. Best of Luck to everyone!!!! Cheers!!!!

Welcome! I'm re-starting my weight loss today too! I lost all the way down to 148 but over the past year I've put it back on (not all of it but back up to 175). Where in Northern IN are you? I'm in Northern Indiana too so I was just wondering!

Good luck on your journey! It sounds like you have a pretty busy life!

Corn fed in Indiana.... I remember the first time I heard the phrase back in the 80's when DH's friend ( from Anderson) was looking at his wedding pictures and was describing the bridesmaids. Dsis married a guy from Kokomo and they eat something with creamed corn and spaghetti combined. He's a bottomless pit ( so was DH's friend) and well- my sister is my sister....
The best thing I can say is the people are abundantly friendly-which is apparent in your intro.
I wish you won't beat yourself up. You have had a bunch of babies. You lead a busy life. Often we don't put ourselves and our health very far up on the list.
I think you are doing a great thing by starting off on vacation. You need to start thinking of lifestyle changes that will help you work towards your goal when you get home. There are so many simple little things you can change that will help you along your way.
Oh- and the guy who described the girls in the wedding party is still a buddy-but I play cards with a couple of girls in the pictures a couple times a year after 23 years of being friends. We have been fat together off and on for over two decades.

Hey neighbor! I'm in Goshen so we're just a hop skip and jump down the road (sorta *smile*)

Good luck on your goals. Hopefully we can stick around and support each other. This website is just great with tons of supportive ladies!

Welcome to 3FC! I'm a Chicago gal now, but grew up in Lafayette, so I know only too well the perils of the Hoosier state. Well, the good news is that you've found us - jump in, keep posting, and let us know how things are going "back home again in Indiana".
