Karen C - the puppy fest sounds like it was a blast. Nothing likesome puppies to put a smile on everyone's face! Glad to hear that you are concentratingon staying at least at minimum. It's funny that we have to eat a certain amount for our bodies to let us lose weight but it seems to be true. Thanks for your good wishes - the burrito was yummy! My friend and I figure that it's about 10 points - a lot for lunch for me, but once in a while it's definitely worth it, especially when having lunch with my friend.

Michele - thanks for the Hanukkah wishes. How was the party?

Tracy - I'm so sorry to hear about your auto accident! Sorry to hear that you are bruised - thank goodness you and your friend didn't get hurt any worse!

I hada pretty good weekend. It started with a 0.2 loss - not as much as I hoped for but it was down not up and this time of year that's big whatever the number. I did OK at my Mom's house - I stuck to my plan about the latkes (2 at first and then 2 as a second helping - hers are small). I did nosh a bit too much once we got home (I've done that before - made good choices at an "event" and then ate afterwards - hmmm, have to figure out why). My parents' friends gave us a jar of chestnuts and I should have left them closed. Tony and I baked yesterday (his grandparents recipe) and I was pretty good. I had some salty cravings last night and satisfied it with pickels and popcorn. Boy are my rings tight this morning but I'll be guzzling water all day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend,
Judy

Good Morning! The party was ok, I did not fare as well. I ended up having a couple of drinks. I did ok eating wise, but I am sure the drinks put me way over on points. I had some banked and ate very little prior but still I know it was WAY over. I drank a ton of water before I went to bed and all day yest. I weigh in at Noon, I think I will just show a maintain if my sneak peak this morning is correct. Oh well live and learn. Also, can't be as bad as life is for the ex-girlfriend right now. First, can't believe she even went to the party. But now she is making demands on my boss about how and when she is leaving his house. He has offered her a large lump sum of $$ to help her out and she is pushing the buttons so hard she is about to lose the $$ and my help, I kind of flipped on her this morning about leaving me out of it and to stop putting me in the middle. For someone who used to live off the system she has all of a sudden become quite a snob about how and where she can live and what she deserves. She lived with him for over 5 years, without paying any bills, did not have to work and got vacations at least 4 times a year. She is complaining about it. I could go on forever.........she does not even deserve the $$ if you ask me. ENOUGH!

Sorry to whine.

Judy-your party sounds nice and a few ladkes won't kill you (I don't think) You weigh in shows a loss, that is a big accomplishment for this time of year.

I hope the rest of you all enjoyed your weekend. Have a great day. I will be back after weigh in and post my either gain or loss or whatever honestly.

Hi Judy, that loss shows you are surviving the holiday season, good for you!

Michele, don't worry about a couple of drinks, you have done so well in the past few weeks. I myself take one day a month as a free day and don't count anything. Sorry about the boss' ex, but good for you for going off on her!

Had a good weekend mostly. We went to our first marriage counseling appt, and Garrott was diagnosed with clinical depression, no surprise to me. He is seeing a psychiatrist tomorrow, and I am sure he will be feeling better, the therapist promised. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder, another no brainer, so will be getting a referral for the anxiety disorder clinic at U.F., which the therapist said is one of the best. She also said now was not a good time for me to leave Garrott alone for several days, so cancelled my trip to spend Christmas with my family. Garrott doesn't "do" Christmas, so for the last few years I have spent it elsewhere. We'll have a normal day here, maybe I'll cook a rib roast, but basically we'll ignore it.

Had a small problem with oreos yesterday As I was checking out at the grocery store, I grabbed one of the small bags of mini oreos, figured out the points and decided I could afford them. After thoroughly enjoying every little cookie, I realized this little bag was not one serving, but THREE! YIKES! Good thing I had some banked points! Next time I'll have to do a better job of reading labels. Lesson learned!

Hi everyone.

Sorry I didn't check in on Friday. I took the afternoon off to go shopping and just ran out of time in the morning.

Tracy - Sorry to hear about your accident. What a crummy thing to happen.

Pat - I'm glad to hear you were able to get some time off to go shopping. And congrats on passing up the candy.

Judy - I hope it's not too late to wish you a Happy Hannukah (today's the last day, right?). Congrats on your loss and on sticking to your plan at your mom's house. As for the noshing afterwords: Did you perhaps pass on something you really wanted and felt deprived? I'm in the same place you are - I need to figure out what I want to do for the next 20 years. I know that I don't like big companies and I definitely want to get out of the field and the type of work that I'm currently in. I may have to jump ship while I'm pondering. If I end up having to meet a quota for add-on sales I'm gone. Sales is not my thing and I'm not spending even a month in a job in which I'm destined to fail.

Michele - Don't fret about those drinks. It's one day and you've been doing really great. Just keep drinking that water. Yikes, the ex-girlfriend sounds like a real piece of work. I'm glad you stood up for yourself with her.

Karen C. - I'm so glad to hear that you and your husband are getting the help that you need. Hang in there - happier days are sure to be ahead.

I had a much better weekend than I've been happening. I even managed to get my water in and woke up to a good sneak peek rather than water retention. My boss is taking his group out to lunch today. We're going to his club and the food is terrific there as is the service. We're having a late lunch and alcohol will be involved. I should be able to eat reasonably there and will just make lunch my main meal of the day.

Have a great day everyone.

HUMBUG!

Whew! now that that's over with...

Tracy, sorry to hear about your accident. Hope the insurance companies are treating you well.

Phoinix, good luck with the therapy. Hope it helps. Anxiety is not fun, there is a thread under dieting with health problems called panic attacks & dieting, you are welcome to visit if you like.

Judy, happy Hannukah!

Cece, sounds like you have a good plan for the week.

Me, I am trying to stay out of the holiday fudge. And working out. Sigh. The good thing about the holidays is you get to get rid of all the treats you bake. The bad thing is people give more to you... Well, as long as I keep in mind the MODERATION tactic and bump up my workouts I hope I will be ok.

Hanging in there meanwhile.

I am back from my weigh in, Judy I found your .2 pounds. I guess it is not too bad considering how much I really did have to drink the other night, plus I went all the way with white russians. I think it will be fairly easy to rid myself of it since all the parties are over now except the actual holiday and since it is at my house I will be too busy and stressed to over indulge.
I have also found that when you overindulge it takes 2 days to show up before it disappears again, 2 days would be today.
I went right back on track and I will keep chugging the water and sticking to the program, this is a lifestyle change and it is forever and I can't expect to be perfect all the time.

Jennifa-good luck with the fudge!

Karen-I am glad things are starting to look better with you and your husband. Disagnosis is a good sign, that means things are fixable with a little help. Good Luck!

Carla-I hope you enjoy your luncheon (but not as much as I enjoyed mine ) I hope things work out for you at work. I know how crappy it can be to be unhappy at work.

Tracey-Sorry about the accident, I am glad you and your friend were not seriously hurt!

Jennifa - I'm sending you positive vibes to stay out of that fudge.

Michele - Sorry to hear about the gain, but it was miniscule and will be gone before you know it. At any rate, you hit the nail on the head: it's a lifestyle change and life is going to throw curves and obstacles and parties at us and sometimes White Russians just happen. The key is getting right back on track (something I fail miserabley with sometimes) and you're doing that, so you'll be fine.

The luncheon was good. Just one glass of wine. The food was fabulous. I'm sure I've used up all my points for the day, but I'll stick to soup for dinner. On the positive side, I got in all my fruits and veggies for the day and drank a lot of water. And the portions were very reasonable.

Talk to you all later.

Carla

Hi Everyone!

Well, I am hereby officially abandoning all plans for weightloss until after New Year's, and my current goal is to maintain. The past few days have been megadifficult what with 3 parties in 2 days, with goodies scarfed down at each, and washed down with liquid cheer. All I can manage is to climb aboard the treadmill everyday and try to undo some of the damage. But once January first rolls around, it'll be a whole new game!

Carla - congratulations on the fruits and veggies and water. I like your idea of soup for dinner. Good for damage control! I'm sure you'll reach the right decision about work. It's a tough call, isn't it?

Michele - Only .2 up after all that fun doesn't sound too bad! All that water will help matters. Hope "As the Stomach Turns" at work sorts itself out.

Jennifa - Yes Moderation is the key! Too bad I don't listen to my own advice. I'm doing okay this week, but go back to work on Wednesday having to deal with boxes and boxes of chocolate...

Karen C. - sounds great that you and Garrott are working hard on your problems. I lol'ed about the oreos, I did the exact same thing about a month ago...must be a Karen trait!

Judy - Happy Hannukah! The .2 lb loss is a loss any way you look at it, and at this time of the year, it's a major achievement!!

Tracy - so sorry to hear about your accident! Hope your bruises are healing!

Pat - Glad to hear you got your shopping in. I'm just about done too. And what will power passing up the candy!

Talk to you all tomorrow...

Karen B

Tracy - Sorry to hear about your accident.

Judy - Happy Hanukkah. Congratulations on the loss...especially hard at this time of year.

Michele - Don't worry about the small gain. The important thing is to get right back OP, which you have done. Good job telling the ex-girlfriend off. Unfortunately I've run into a lot of people like her, especially working for the divorce lawyer.

Karen C - Glad to hear you and Garrott are getting the help you need. Those serving sizes have gotten me in the past too.

Carla - Way to go managing the weekend and the luncheon.

Jennifa - Keep hanging in there. We're in the home stretch.

Karen B - With all the parties, etc. I think just maintaining is a good goal. Good job getting in your exercise.

I managed to do a better job handling this weekend, especially in the snacking. Today wasn't as good. I knew I shouldn't have picked up those mini Reese's peanut butter cups. I had a good sneak peek this morning, but my rings are really tight tonight. I'll have to concentrate on getting in my water tomorrow.

Talk to you later.

Good Morning! I hope all is well with you all.

Pat-That is great about your sneak peak! Way to go on the snacking over the weekend!

Karen-A maintain over the holidays is a good idea. If I did not have the cruise coming up I would be going for the same thing. Just keep on getting up on that treadmill and you will be fine.

Carla-Glad you had a good luncheon, great for you on the one glass of wine, I needed your willpower at my party

The soap opera that is my work life is getting more interesting by the minute. I will update when I have more time. I think it is just about to explode.

Have a great day

Michele, anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Pat, just keep guzzling that water.

Karen B, remember to drink water between each goodie. It will at least slow you down!

Carla, good work on the work lunch.

Jennifa, keep up the exercise and those goodies will melt away.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and advice. I'm trying to keep a positive outlook. After those couple of weeks of not being able to even consume minimum points, now I'm having problems with overeating. Working on drinking more water and exercising. I try to remind myself that I'm not really hungry, I'm thirsty! Weighin tomorrow, sneak peak looks good!

Michele - I agree with Karen C - don't worry about a few drinks even if you saw a 0.2 gain - it's really insignificant and is probably water. Your attitude is a winner - good for you!

Karen C - It sounds like things are going well for you and Garrott. I think it's a wise decision to spend Christmas with him.

Carla - thanks for the Hanukkah wishes - it's never too late ;-) I'm glad to hear that you had a good weekend - even the water! It sounds like you nailed that luncheon! Good for you - I hope you gave yourself many pats on the back! Just one glass of wine - wow - way to go ;-) I didn't really pass on anything at my mom's although I (no surprise) would have liked to have had more helping of latkes! I think it's just a situation I have to anticipate and figure out a way to deal with, ya know?

Jennifa - Hang in there! The sweets will stop showing up at your doorstep soon! I'm with you in spirit on the exercise - I noticed my ankle was a little sore yesterday (probably from all the rain) so I didn't do a step tape - I *could* have gotten on the bike......

Karen B - hey, maintaining over the last leg of the Bermuda triangle is a good strategy. It is a victory in and of itself. "As the Stomach Turns" - LOL - wasn't that a very funny sketch on the Carol Burnett show years ago? Ooops, I'm dating myself!

Pat - glad to hear that you had a good weekend - sorry to hear about those mini Reese's peanut butter cups - hey, they happen! Forget 'em and guzzle that water!

I had a pretty good day yesterday even though I did another round of baking after work (which thankfully wasn't as crazy). While I did taste a couple (and counted them) I also chewed gum when I was tempted to have more. The sneak peek was good this morning - now I have to work on keeping it that way!

Hi everyone.

Please don't congratulate me on having only one glass of wine. Everyone else only had one drink and I didn't want to be the only lush in the crowd.

Karen B - Given that most people gain 7-10 pounds over the holidays, maintaining puts you way ahead of the pack. Much better to set a realistic, attainable goal than struggle.

Pat - I'm glad to hear that this weekend was better for you. Yay for a good sneak peek. Keep guzzling that water.

Michele - I think I need more of your willpower, not the other way around! I can't wait to hear more about the drama unfolding at work.

Karen C - I'm glad to hear you had a good sneak peek and I'm sure that your "official peek' will be good too. I think you're doing a great job managing the program in the face of the turmoil you've been facing.

Judy - Hey - great job chewing gum when you were tempted to sample more of the goodies you were baking. Sounds like everyone is having good sneak peeks. Yay!

I'll include myself in the good sneak peek club. I was happy with my sneak peek this morning. I realized, after I had already cooked it, that the frozen dinner I brought for lunch was high in sodium levels so I'm going to have to keep guzzling the H2O myself. Three more days of work and then I'm off until the 2nd of January. It will be good to have some time to re-assess my work situation and figure out what I want to do. Perhaps I'll get my house in tip-top shape and cook wonderful meals every night to let John know what life could be like if I became a stay-at-home mom for awhile.

Have a great day everyone.
