Default Phase 1 day 8 and sick as a dog!

I need some suggestions.....I have a horrible bladder infection (and can't have cranberry juice) and flu like symptoms on top of that. I would love to just have chicken noodle soup but can't. I need some suggestions....

Cannwarren, I'm sorry your having such a rough time with Phase I! I know how you feel. Yesterday I was really queasy and I just wanted ginger ale and saltines. At least if you are drinking all your water that should help with the bladder infection. And you might not be able to have chicken noodle, but you can have some chicken broth or bouillion. Hope you feel better soon.

If cranberry juice is really the best thing for a bladder infection, then I think you'd best take care of that ailment first and do Phase 1 when you're better. If your nutritional stores are depleted (and Phase 1 is NOT a balanced diet - it's meant to be a short term "detox" of the sugars in your system) then your body will not be able to fight infection off very well. Call your doctor and ask his/her recommendation! Hope you feel better soon!

You could try diet ocean spray. It still has sugar, but a lot less. I also like bouillion like Schmoodle said. When I feel sick I like the saltine, bouillion and diet ginger ale idea. Maybe jello too. It is really hard being on phase one and being sick. None of the food sounds good. I hope you feel better. Take Care.

I think the problem with cranberry juice is that it's a fruit, hence not Phase 1 "legal".

Take care of yourself, Cann!

it's the flu like feelings caused by not eating proper carbs (milk, yogurt, beans and veggies) in phase 1. that's why i asked what you are eating.

Maybe make your own chicken soup without carrots and noodles. Add more veggies. I've read in a health book that celery is also a natural diuretic like cranberries so try to up your celery intake. Also maybe drink more tea, like green tea. I believe that cranberry juice works so well because it makes you go more. Cranberries are a diuretic. Of course, drink lots of water. Also you could google homeopathic remedies for bladder infections and I'm sure you will find a veggie alternative to cranberries. But it's always best to take care of yourself first and do what you feel is best for your body even if it means going against P1 rules.

Not sure if you were still having problems but I wanted to tell you that at your local drugstore they sell a cranberry tablet to help with bladder infections.

If you haven't already, please go to the doctor for the bladder infection! I've had them chronically all my life and have had several turn into kidney infections because I thought I could self treat with loads of cranberry juice (NOT cranberry cocktail like OceanSpray) and drinking gallons of water. In most people, that will flush it out, but please please please go to a doctor anyway.

I know you want to stick to SB, but your health is more important. Get cranberry juice (and make sure to look at the label- it should JUST be cranberries: no other fruits or sugars) and make sure you're eating enough. Cranberry juice is really only a minor setback, and if you dillute it with water, you're not even getting THAT much.
