Hi everyone! this is my first time posting, but I am super excited about this site. I discovered it from an Oprah magazine and tonight I was reading all of the wonderful success stories and browsing through the before and after pics. I can't wait to post mine. I have been overweight since i was five and I have been working hard to change my lifestyle and get healthy. I have a family history of obesity and diabetes. I was diagnosed a couple of year ago with diabetes myself and i was heartbroken. When they first dianosed me my blood sugar was 560 (for those that might be unaware about the norms 80-120 is normal and at 600 you can go into a coma). I almost hit the floor. since then I have been yo-yo dieting and working out, but I really want to get serious now. I know where my strengths and weaknesses are and I really need to focus on them. At the beginning of the year i weighed 270 I currently weigh 240 and would like to weigh anywhere from 130-160. I'm tired of lugging around all of this extra fat. I really do enjoy working out but it's just the act of getting ready to go to the gym and actually going that kills me. I just have to tell myself that once I'm there I'll enjoy it. My goal for posting on this website is not only aimed at weight loss but to build new friendships online and locally. I would like to find people in the Atlanta area that would like to work out together, either at a gym or the park...anything. My big goal I am working on is to get physically fit enough to run the Peachtree road race next year. I have a lot of weight to loose but I think I will be able to do it.
