Default It's easier being fat in the fall/winter months!

It's easier being fat in the fall/winter months! I miss wearing my blazers! What can I do to hide my fat, other then workout and lose it? It's all in my stomach and summer just doesn't work for me when I'm overweight.

I love clothes and I'm thinking maybe I should STOP shopping for anything until I lose the 20 lbs or so! Then I can buy the sizes and styles I like again.

As for now my entire wardrobe is 3/4 sleeve stretch tops for work with a tee underneath and slacks or jeans. I can't wear anything as I'm a muffin top - although losing 7-8 lbs has helped.

Summer is incentive isn't it for those who love fashion. I bought a book called fashionably fit, exercises to look good in clothes but I suppose it's the same old stuff.

I'm just whining, not wanting summer to go by but just having a hard time when it comes to dressing everyday... it's amazing that people here can lose so much weight, obviously I can lose it all this summer if I stay focused.

I hate summer, like you say, it's easier to hide your flab in the winter!
Ah well, just think-if we all stick to our weightloss we can emerge next summer looking gorgeous and slim in our summer clothes!
Only a year to go...

You're right, it's NEXT SUMMER... that will be THE ONE. Or how about in six months, even in winter going to MEXICO with slimmer clothes? Maybe that'll be my goal. I love summer, was a California girl in college, so skinny in bikinis and I know I won't get THAT all back, but certainly there's stomach muscles under all of this flab.

I smiled to myself when I read your topic. It is over 100 degrees where I live and I am still trying to wear zip up sweatshirts to hide my weight!! That is so silly of me. It is hard in the summer because I feel the clothes are more fitting. In the winter I can hide under my big sweaters. The weather will motivate me to contine loosing weight. Good luck to you.

It is so much easier to hide in the winter, for sure! I LOVE clothes. I love the sleeveless, cute tops...I just can't wear them. Losing weight has been a great incentive for me. I reward myself...when I get to _____lbs, I will get a new shirt. When I drop a pant size (which would be great if it was ANY time now...I have lost over 20lbs now and still in the same effing size!), I am going to treat myself to a new outfit.

I normally do what you do WinterStarzz, wait until I've gone down a size and treat myself to a new outfit!
I already have smaller clothes from when I dieted before, so no more new ones until I get to my goal!!

You all better believe LuvsCoffee that it is hot where she is. Yesterday we drove from Chico to the Mojave desert where we live. It was hotter than blue blazes in the central valley. Hotter than the desert and humid to boot.

Anyway, back to the topic. I think we are kidding ourselves that we look less fat in the winter. I just saw a couple of pics taken of me at Christmas. Yikes!!!!!! Certain inspiration to get back to the program after a naughty fourth of July week.

I've been thinking about this. I live in a climate where one hardly ever needs even a jacket, let alone a coat. But it is nice when it's cooler as far as "covering up"--I don't like it when midriff rolls show... And a suit coat can hide a lot. Fortunately one can sometimes find tropical weight suits.

On the other hand, this thought went through my mind: Which looks bigger, a horse, or a horse with a blanket on? ...

Well, yeah... they both look about as big as a horse. Hmmm...

I too chuckled when I read this toipic; I had been musing much the same thing to myself.

The hot weather makes me feel so impatient with myself; nothing I do will be fast enough for me on these hot days.

I know what you mean, I have a bad case of muffin top too thats where 80% of my weight always is >_<
I have to buy jeans that sit on my waist like 1 inch under my belly button and I have to hike them up all day to hide my muffin top because I have a flat butt >_<
I also have to wear long layering tanks under my teeshirts to try to hide it as well lol.. a sweater or sweatshirt is so much easier
Ive been shopping way way too much lately.. and it seems like the stuff just becomes to small a couple weeks later I should stop shopping too until i lose 20 pounds or so!

I love the BBC version of What Not To Wear. This book by Trinny and Susanna has helped me tremendously. I hated to clothes shop even as a skinny teen. BORING. This book (and their others) help me get through it quickly without making ugly mistakes. I think if you try some of their suggestions, you will be happy with the results!

Weird, I've always found it was the contrary for me. Not only am I more easily hungry in winter due to the cold (which makes it hard to stick to a controlled calories plan at times), but since I can hide in my clothes, I also conveniently "not realize" if I gain on weight--the scales shows it, alright, but I'm more motivated to nip it in the bud when I can actually SEE how my stomach starts to bulge through my shirts, instead of just having to rely on a number that I can anyway use to trick myself into a thinking mode of "oh, 1__ lbs isn't THAT much, after all". In summer, I can't really hide, so I don't have any choice but to make extra efforts. Even if I don't look good for some time (I look fat in my layers of clothes in winter as well, so while I'm at it...).

The way I'm built I just can't have any extra 20 lbs on me, it goes to my stomach and I can't wear clothes anymore - in the winter I can hide with fitted blazers and since I have long thin legs it works for me. This summer I can't wear anything other then some dark tops and 3/4 sleeve stretch shirts without looking so top heavy. I have all of the books about fashion tips, I was obsessing about my wardrobe about a year ago when I was 20 lbs skinnier, and I was dressing so much better. I did go on a "shopping therapy" trip yesterday as my ex is in town visiting our boy - and I was almost ready to buy a few xl shirts, then I tried on large and they were "almost" fitting but I didn't buy. I really am going to stick with this - no more clothes shopping until I lose 10 more lbs, and then when I lose 20 lbs it's new wardrobe time! And maybe I'll even start saving for a reward trip to Mexico the minute I can fit into a bikini again without looking absurd!
