Ok, maybe not really dying. But I have been sick since Monday, with a tummy ache and moderately bad diarhea. I'm finding it difficult to eat anything. I've just been feeling like crap. But instead of being upset about this, all I can think is "Yay! I've lost 5 pounds so far!" There's an up side to everything, I guess!
I've been careful to drink enough water/herbal tea that I don't get dyhydrated. I've been sleeping alot. I'm on vacation, so I'm not missing any work, and if I don't feel better soon, I'm going to the doctor on Friday. I should be fine. I just find it funny that in a weird way, I'm glad I got sick.
But I do hope that you are feeling better and real soon. What a lousy way to spend a vacation. Do make sure to drink lots of water and maybe try to eat a small amount of food at a time. And make sure if you're not feeling better soon that you get yourself to a doctor. Take care.
When you're sick is not the time to be restricting foods for weight loss, of course. If you've had diarrhea for days, then you are losing more than water--you are probably also losing salts. I'd suggest at least some chicken broth and some rice to go with it. Be sure to keep taking your vitamins and mineral supplements. And try to eat part of a banana, for the potassium it contains. Cut it up and put it with a little milk or soymilk.
If your condition goes on much longer, you will of course see your doc.
As someone who had an amoeba or a million doing damage to my stomach and intestinal tract 3 weeks ago, I can tell you that you need to eat something with salt. Chicken broth with some soda crackers, pedialyte, and other such stuff.
Unfortunately the weight comes back on when you start eating and drinking normally, but you may lose a pound or two... Hope you feel better!
I actually have been able to eat some stuff. Cottage cheese, fruit, cereal, and soymilk. I hadn't thought about the salt issue but now I will.
I fell asleep (again!) after I wrote the above and woke up feeling better. Maybe I've ridden it out. /cross fingers
I know that this isn't a real weight loss. But at least I wasn't over eating like I normally I do when I'm off work, so that is something good at least. But I will be glad when this is over.
Having the flu is actually how I lost my first 5 lbs. Not the best way to do it, but might as well make the best out of something you have no control over, right? Congrats on the weight loss, sorry to hear you are sick, I hope you feel better soon, and start losing it the healthy way!
