Default Losing the freshman fifteen...

Hello everyone! Okay... so I'm not quite 20 yet (only 19), I will be in a good six months so I figured it'd be alright if I posted here.

I've gained all the weight I lost back while at college here. It's awful... I had gotten so skinny and now I'm back to where I was! It's SO frustrating! Anyone here have any advice for losing that freshman fifteen? Getting back in the habit of dieting and exercising is proving to be very difficult for me with this stressful college life. Even though I walk and ride my bike everywhere, it's just not doing the job. Sigh.

Thanks everyone!

Hey!
I totally know what you mean.. by the end of last summer I was looking good, but all that darn stress with tests/homework makes you eat like no other! And besides, no time for the gym at all..
But now it's summer again, we can do it!
Stay strong!

Hahaha...count yourself lucky to only gain the freshman 15.

for me it was more like the freshman 40.

Right now I'm working on about the last 10-15 pounds of it.

It's tough and a lot of work now, but I figure I'm going to my into some good habits this summer so I'll be better prepared with handling the challenges that college raises when I go back in the fall.

Good luck!

Good job glitterlicious!
I'm also hoping that summer brings along some control over my eating habits

oh man, i totally understand. i've always been naturally slim and petite, but i'd gain 10 pounds over the college year. i'd lose 10-15 pounds of it over the summer. seems like when the summer kicks in, we all look good and feel great.. but once college begins again, we get into our old habits. this summer i'm training and teaching myself to REALLY eat healthier, and keep those habits for life. i gotta look good in my senior ball dress! heh

i don't think it's that difficult to exercise in college, somehow you can always make SOME time. even putting in 10-15 of runnning on the treadmill or elliptical helps when you can't do a normal workout. or maybe buy a workout video, and do a little exercise in your room. try that, along with eating healthy carbs/grains, fruits, veggies, and lean proteins. i know it's tough to make good food choices in college, but it is possible, you just gotta have the willpower to choose a nice bowl of cereal over that bacon egg and cheese bagel. we're all here for you, and to help each other! good luck.

Here is the nicest thing in the world about college: FREE GYM! FREE CLASSES! CHEAP TRAINERS!

You can lose weight at college; it's hard because of classes, school work, activities, etc, but it's definitely possible. One of the suggestions I would make is to set a set time for gym going. When I lived on campus, I went early in the morning because it wasn't as crowded. Hold yourself to it!

I'm 19 and losing the freshman 15 is the reason I'm here as well. I'm hoping to lose it by the time I go back to school in the fall.

I'm worried about gaining it back when I go, but here's what I'm planning on doing:

Keep bottled water and diet soda in my room so I have something else besides regular soda to drink.

Go to the grocery store once a week and buy myself fruits and veggies and other healthy snacks to eat since there's not much of that available.

Only eat when I'm hungry! This is a big one since most of my friends are guys and eat all the time (and not very healthy foods at that). I also feel bad about not eating all the food I get from the cafeteria, but I'm going to try to get over that because the portions are huge (we have an a la carte style system rather than all you can eat)!

I'd love to hear more suggestions for helping keep the weight off while in college!

I am in the process of losing the freshman 30! I have 10 lbs to go.
I am really anxious about continuing my healthy habits when I go back to school this year, but I am not going to have a meal plan and will instead have a kitchen, so hopefully it will be easier... I'm gonna start outlining my goals and whatnot near the end of this month in preparation. Until then I'm still working on that last 10!
