I started to get active and watch what I eat and a cleansing diet about 11 days ago Im feeling better but havent lost any weight and actually gained a pound I know it hasnt been very long but its just so discouraging. Why isnt this weight coming off
What plan are you on? How much are you working out? I know that for me, it took a month or so for my metabolism to ramp up and for me to get accustomed to my plan. I was just estimating portions instead of measuring them, for example, and because of that was eating way more than I thought. Maybe some of these issues might be affecting you, too? I highly recommend journalling/tracking your food if you don't already do so, because that's what really helped me start losing.
I'm sure others here will have more advice for you, but...don't be discouraged! You've made the commitment to change, and that's the hardest step! Now it's just a matter of finding what works for you. You can do it!
PS: if you've been on-plan and are exercising more than usual, it's possible that the 1 lb was your muscles are retaining water.
I'm glad you are at least feeling better and sympathize with your frustration.
Could you tell us exactly what plan you are following? Perhaps we can spot something.
Thanks everyone well thats probably my problem, Im not really on a plan and not really watching my calories!! Im just eating healthy no sweets and lots of fruits and veggies maybe its time to buckle down and really get with a plan.
I did start walking a mile a day and a bit of swimming. I have bum knee so I have to start off slow. Im also walking with hand weights and doing some arm exercises. I know I need to step up the workouts but i weigh so much and my knee cant handle too much yet.
you guys are so sweet Im sorry if Im over emotional
Hmmm ... that can be discouraging. Even if you don't intend to count calories, it might be worth your while to plug yesterday's food into a calculator and see where you're at. Fruit can be pretty calorific, I have to watch that cuz one piece tastes sooo good ... I'd like six! Same with beverages ... cream in coffee, juices ...
Counting calories is the only thing that has ever worked for me. It is amazing how much you can still eat if you stick to lots of vegetables, lean protein, low fat dailry, high fiber, some fruit, lots of water. I am never hungry and stay around 1400 calories a day. I have lost 40 lbs. since January with some weeks staying the same. Good luck. I feel it is best to make up our own plan. Only you know what you will stick with. Good luck.
thanks for the advice girls i guess i better start jotting down in a journal and counting calories
do you girls also watch fat? good versus bad and stuff? cause I love almonds and avocadoes, and like to put almonds in my yougurt and stuff the avocadoes with tuna and am wondering if thats bad, cause I know those 2 things are fattening but not bad fat.
If you don't want to use a journal, you can try one of the many online calorie counters, such as Fitday.com. It's a great tool and will allow you to really track those pesky calories.
For me Debbs, it us all about calories. Yes, almonds and avocadoes have good, healthy fats, but fat of any kind means lots of calories. They really must be eaten in moderation and portioned out and added into your day. I prefer to get more volume for my calories, so almost never eat almonds. I do eat avocado about once a week, about 1/4 of one that is.
Robin I agree with you about all things in moderation. the reason I don't have nuts or avocado is because I can't have 1/4 of an avocado. i will eat more.
I do eat it when i go out and can get a controlled amount.
