Default Very, Very Hesitant.....

I really want to get invovled on this website, but I'm very hesitant. I am very inspired by the success I have seen on here, and feel I am really trying to lose the weight for good. But, the support of people who know, would really help I think.
The reason I'm hesitant, is I have joined several boards, and for some reason it just seems there is something with my personality or how I say things that makes people not like me. Like I will post something, and I'll get maybe 1 or 2 responses, when the ones around me get 10 plus. I just wanted to throw my fears out there, because maybe if I'm completley honest, it will make a difference.
I have gotten myself off soda pop! Yay! One month sooner then I gave myself to get off it, and I have stopped eating after 9. I'm feeling good about these positive life changes, and just feeling good in general.
Well, I hope I can make some friends on here, and find some support. Have a great day everyone!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained! (Or lost, depending on how you want to look at it.)
I guess I would suggest giving it a try. I'd be surprised if you didn't find this place to be very welcoming. It isn't a place to be critical of others or for heated debate. It's just a very supportive group of people.

Hey, I often have NO responses, even when I ask a question...OR, someone will say exactly what I have already stated and someone else will comment on that person's post, ignoring mine completely.

If I took these things personally, I wouldn't still be here! Just jump on in and be sure that you reach out to anyone you feel a connection with for support.

Congrats on breaking the soda habit!

Hi there PinkHoodie and welcome to 3FC. Well all I can say is this IS a great, supportive, knowledgable and FRIENDLY place. It's also the ONLY message board I've ever been to, I have no need to go anywhere else - this place just suits me fine. I think after a very short time, you will definitely agree with me.

Anyway, I am so glad that you're here. Congratulations on making some nice lifestyle changes and for the nice amount to weight you've already lost!!! I look forward to getting to know you better and hearing about your continued success.

Welcome Tami! It's always great to get new people. I have never enjoyed a forum more than I have enjoyed this one - and I have benefited from it to an extent I didn't believe possible. I agree with SoulBliss (as I often do, though I don't think I've pointed it out before), though. A lack of response doesn't mean that people don't like you or mesh with you. There are SO many posts that it's often tough to keep up with them all. Frequently, I just nod my head, think how insightful that person was, and move on to the next thread. So, please, post regularly and don't start believing that responses to your posts are votes in a popularity contest. I suspect, though, that you will find as much guidance as I have.

Are you following any certain kind of diet? There are some great threads for different diets under "general diet plans" I believe. I belong to two, and everyone is very supportive of one another. Plus, it's a great place to ask how others deal with temptations, negative thoughts, etc. and offer ideas that you've found to work for you. I really appreciate the support I find here, and I feel like knowing I'm going to check in reminds me to do well on my diet. I even found someone on the same diet to call every week so we can coach/encourage each other! I think you will be able to find a group on here that fits your needs. Best wishes on your weight loss--sounds like you are off to a great start!

Thanks everyone. I hope it didn't sound offensive, its just bad experiences on other boards kind of stick with me....Thanks again!

Oh and currently I am not doing a diet. I have tried tons of them like Weight Watchers, counting calories, etc. And as of right now, I just need to train myself to make better choices, and get exercising.

Tami

I've checked out other boards...and have always found that outside of this very group...the 100 pound club, things tend to get negative..catty and so on...
This group is the only place that I've EVER found to be the complete opposite. We get the occasional person trying to stir things up..but it's very rare and never continues on because it's just NOT what we're about here.

I think you'll find this a very homey, wonderful and supportive place.
Not many posts go unnoticed, and personally, I've never seen anyone ignored.
I can't say enough good things about this group of true friends

Give us a try...you will be pleasantly surprised.

HEY TAMI!!!

I feel like that too!! I think some people HERE don't like me!!!

but then...some people do....

I have been TOTALLY BLOWN OFF by certain people on this forum...

but MOST people have been kind and supportive.....

hey sometimes people will agree with you you..sometimes they won't....

but I'm here to LOSE WEIGHT and GET BETTER...and a big part of that, for me, is to be honest and be myself....

so...don't worry...no need to hesitate....you are here to lose weight and feel better and get support...and you can find that here!!

alot of the time it's like Lauriedawn said...you don't always literally answer evry thread...you just take it in and move on to the next.....I ahve gooten alot from posts that I didn't answer as well as ones that I did...

so

...and just be yourself...

...and I promise you...

some people will like you ...and some people won't!!!

to the 100 Lb. Club. I hope you find it as supportive and inspirational as I do. Congratulations on your weight loss, and on giving up soda--that can be so tough!

I certainly understand about sometimes not getting responses. I have to agree that often I read something, don't have an answer or a comment, but I've enjoyed reading the post. So, please, even if you don't get as many responses as you like to posts, know that your post has affected someone out there.

It's so great that you're here! I think you're really going to like it. I know I do.

Laura - I hope I not one that's blown you off. For certain, I haven't meant to. I'm one of the flightiest people I've ever encountered, though, and sometimes I will skip entire posts and threads without even realizing it.
