Thumbs up From Hummers To Hummingbirds Weekly Challenge

We're a group that dreams of the day that we'll make goal. In order to try and reach goal, we've come up with a few challenges. 1.) At least 30 min. of exercise p/day or e-o day. (This can be broken up into 10 min. intervals.) 2.) A six-week goal challenge to lose 10#. (The healthy average is 2# p/wk, we've given you an extra week so it's more attainable.) If you don't meet these challenges 100%, that's okay-do what you can. DON'T GIVE UP! Giving up is not an option. If you give up, you have to start all over again. If you get off track, climb back on & join the journey. We all feel the same as you. At some point in our life, we have all fealt like failures. Just think of how much better we'll all feel if we reach our goals. If you have to set your own goals, that's okay too! SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE! So, follow your dreams and come join us!
Good Luck, to you all!

My Current Stats:
30 min. of swimming p/day
231/222/140
(start/current/goal)
Lost 9# of my 10# challenge

Count me in! I need something to keep myself more focused and accountable. My current stats are on the ticker, but I might seen a gain in the near future because of bad food choices and not making time to exercise.

So, if I can meet the 10 pounds in 6 weeks challenge, I should be at 275 on August 6. I'll commit to walking at least 30 minutes each day.

Jolly Molly: I'm so glad to see you post again! With moving and all, I know that it's tough to get on the computer. You're going thru a real hectic time right now. Hang in there, you'll be somewhat settled soon! In the mean time, if you like baby carrots, nows the time to stock up on them! Keep them on ice in a cooler if you have to. I know when I'm stressed, I get the crunchy munchies. Carrots normally relieve the crunchies for me. I just have to make sure that their on hand. You are not only getting the satisfaction of eating something with a crunch, but you are also getting a little nutrition in the process. Also, carrots contain water, so some of your water will be reached too! Well, I have to go take dd to her early morning dance team practice. ttfn

Hello Everyone!

Jolly Molly: I'm so glad that you were able to check in with us at our thread. Good for you on your 14km walk and good food choices!
Just how far is 14km compared to miles? I'm not familiar with the km's, so I need a little education in that field! As for your food choices-give yourself a pat on the back. It's so hard to keep making the good choices when so many yummy choices get in our way. I had to talk myself out of a few of the yummy one's the past couple of days. I'm sure glad that I did because if I would have gave in to those temptations, the scale would definitely be going in the wrong direction. As for how I'm doing, as of this morning, I'm a half-pound away from my first 10# challenge/goal! I can't wait to see that last .5# vanish, so that I can work on the next 10#! Well, time to go pick up dd. I'll check in later!

Question From Hummers To Hummingbirds Weekly Challenge

Hi, It's Me Again!

I just figured out how far 14km is. Jolly Molly: Did you walk over 8 miles, or didn't I figure this out right? I know it used to take me a little less than an hour to walk 4 miles. Does this mean that you were out walking for over two hours? If so, you did an awesome job! No matter what, you did an awesome job either way! Keep up the good work! I'm continuing with my swimming laps for a half hour. I'm not sure how many km's or miles that would be, but I do know that swimming burns 540 calories in an hour. This means that for a half-hour, that would be 270 calories burned and I'm happy with that. (As long as I swim for at least 30 min. p/day.) My dd talked me into taking her & her friend to Coldstone Ice Cream yesterday. I so much wanted a turtle blend like it sized ice cream. That would have set me way.... back on my weightloss journey. I instead tried their sinless vanilla (fat/sugar free) and added a few pecans to it. It actually tasted pretty close to having a turtle! I didn't feel deprived at all! Well, I guess I'd better get off of here right now. My kids are driving me nuts because they want to go on the 'puter. TTFN!

Hey Jackie, I followed you over here from your other thread. Wow I just read through the last couple of pages of posts, very inspiring and a wonderful read. I don't think I could find that stat thingy again if I tried but here is a little about me,
Okay 32 engaged , no kids, one dog and 2 cats though I think the dog thinks he is a cat. live in the country and work night shift as a nurse in central wisconsin. I occasionally get over ambitious and forget to sleep, Slight insomniac at times though it does my body and mood no good when I do this. Was working 2 jobs until last month so was unable to really have a schedule to exercise or really plan my meals, absolutely love subway sandwiches for work and trying to eat lots of fruit and vegatables when at home, Current cravings, I would like to say water though actually it is these darn potato chips that are still sealed in the bag, I buy the individual bags so I can't eat to the bottom of a big bag when I finally give in. which seems to be the only thing that stops me when I start is the bottom of the bag.

Anyways that is a little about me, hope you don't mind me jumping in here, I tried over a year ago and really need to start taking better care of myself, Well off to bed and stare at the ceiling for awhile.

Exclamation Welcome Anna/Flawlesscube!

Anna/Flawlesscube: Thanks for following me over here from my "lonely" thread, that actually had more company! I'm glad that you found the posts here inspiring. The stat thingy someone else came up with it. Somehow we were supposed to copy/paste and transfer the questions over to our thread, but I didn't know how to do it either. I ended up writing down all the questions free-hand. (My printer is not working!) I then typed out all the questions and answered them all. Thanks for wanting to correspond with a "middle-aged" Mom. With having two teenagers, I tend to be "young at heart". My daughter actually has me movin' to her Hip-Hop station while we're driving down the road! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! So, you're an animal lover I see! (2 cats and a dog!) Did you get your dog after you had the two cats, or why is it that it acts like a cat? When do you plan on getting married?
I live about 45 min. north/west of Milwaukee out in the country. I have a sister in law that lives in Merril, WI. Are you anywhere close to there? I also stop at Subway quite often. My dd loves their food! I've been ordering a wrap or a salad most of the time when I go there, from the "under 6 grams of fat" choices. Instead of mayo, I usually ask for lots of vinegar, with a little bit of oil and then load on the onions! (Lettuce, tomatoes and other veggies too!) As for your food choices, keep eating those fruits/veggies! And start craving for that water! Stay away from those lousy potato chips, they are your worst enemy! Start liking/craving that water! So, I see that you are a nurse. Do you work in a hospital, nursing home, Home Health? Well, I suppose I'd better get going. DH comes home today and I need to get my pig stye cleaned up! Stop and chat anytime, you're more than welcome!

Jackie,
Wow not sure which to answer first and if i typo forgive me I just pulled a 12 hour then had to get the grey out of my hair, well then there was the rummage sales on the way home and then shopko had there sweater sale so i found some beauties for about 3 bucks, wait a minute by the time i can wear sweaters again i won't be that size, hmm the power of shrinking them in the dryer should help. Okay I work at a nursing home during the night though i also work part time home health and this last year I also worked as a school nurse a couple of hours a week as I needed to catch up on some bills. Also if you throw a dart at Stevens Point you might hit me, right in the middle of the state. though milwaukee is about 3 hours away and merrill is a little closer, I got the dog first though they all usually get along beautifully, used too have many more animals then I got divorced and most moved out, birds, fish , snakes, scorpions, for a while at least then of course turtles, ect, oi, I didn't need kids I had a petting zoo in my house. though my friend would protest who hates snakes anyways
BTW I tend to ramble so here I go especially when I am a bit tired. I love water took me months to get off diet coke i swear there is something in that soda that gives me cravings, now i get one a week and I am having it now, yippee
I'd help with the house work more if I didn't hire family to clean it for me so i could sleep and work more, now talk about an oxymoron.
hmm wedding date well we keep telling everyone it will be in september though we actually haven't set the year yet, wait till mom finds out right.
I have to pick up fish for tonight as we are having a little camp fire in the backyard if it cools down enough and enjoying a night off. I don't get them very often and have to work the rest of the weekend . What are your plans ladies,
ALright I must really get some sleep for a bit if i want to drive back to town later.
Jackie your kids sound great, keep me posted. dance lessons? I think I read, what kind? and when do you have time for yourself?
ooo and subway love the ranch dressing and the honey mustard also, but usually get turkey or chicken sandwhich with almost all the veggies to go, trying to train my stomach smaller, yeah well I can try right. as I gorge on fish tonight. lost my 2 pounds for this week and want to be in the 270's by next week, that is my goal for now, I have HTN, PCOS, and asthma with a chronic ankle problem so running is out but I love my gazelle swimming and walking, would loveto start llifting weights again as soon as I tackle the cardio more frequently. alright my book is done for now, hope I didn't scare any one away, Like i said I tend to ramble at times.
Keep on humming

Default Yay! Another reply to our thread! Yipee!!

Anna/Flawlesscube: Thanks for your nice response back to me. Congrats on your 2# loss for the week, you're doing great! I wish that I could say that for myself. I was doing so... good, then I kind of blew it!
I was a 1/2 # from my first 10# goal, now I'm 2# from it! If I watch it for the next week, I should make my 6 week commitment of a 10# loss! (I'll try and be a good girl.) Well, today is kind of a bitter-sweet day for me. It would have been my Mom's 78th Birthday today. As I've mentioned in an earlier thread, she passed away on 2/27 of this year. But the sweet and joyous thing about today is that I'm going to a wedding! They are getting married outside a church in a beautiful garden. The bride is a teacher at my daughter's dance studio. My daughter & I are going with a group of girls & their Mom's. (Most of the Hubbies/Dads are staying home.) We're all excited to go. At the reception, I'm going to request them to play the song "Wipeout" in honor of my Mom. She just loved to go crazy dancing to this song at weddings! Now, your question to what style dance my daughter takes lessons for: Just about every style! She wasn't enrolled in hip-hop, but will be learning that on the H.S. Dance Team's summer camp program. So, she takes ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern/lyrical and she's also on the studios competition & company dance teams. Well, speaking of my dd, she's standing over the 'puter in her dress that she's wearing for the wedding, which I still need to do alterations on. So I'll close for now. Have a great weekend!

How did the wedding go? did y ou get some nice photos hopefully? Your daughter sounds fabulous, Like my avatar I can't dance so I watch others who can Long night at work, so curling up with some chicken soup and scrambled eggs and then bed time for me, Aw well got to love weird morning cravings made some biscuits for the honey as the dog some how got the loaf that was on the counter. Heart healthy sara lee bread though I am not sure how heart healthy it is to eat 3/4 of a loaf at once, poor dog, he is stuffed and sleepy now. not the first time he has done though though how a bassett hound can get up on the counter still amazes me.
Have a great OP day

Hello!

The Wedding that I attended was great, including the piece of Turtle Cheesecake! Oh yes, I gave in! The ceremony itself was outside in the churches backyard garden. The entire wedding was very unique! The bridesmaids did a flowing dance up to the alter. She used a "Cinderella" theme throughout the entire day. The little ring bearer was dressed in a Turquoise-Satin Prince outfit and the little flower girls were in matching Princess dresses. At the reception, the theme was carried through with "glass slippers" filled with Hershey kisses and white glittery pumpkins! The display table with the guest book had an entire Cinderella theme. Engagement pictures were displayed inside a white glittery pumpkin carriage. Well, enough of the wedding! I'm still struggling with bad food choices. It's "TOM", so I'm going through some terrible cravings right now. Thank goodness I'm back to work reading water meters again! The benefit of my job is that I'm walking up & down hills in peoples back yards and I get paid for it! I should be getting in between 10-15 hours of walking in this week. So hopefully I'll be able to burn off the Turtle Cheesecake and then some! Speaking of work, I guess I'd better get ready for work. TTFN

The wedding sounded beautiful and I love the accents to the theme. My first wedding was a celtic theme with the high gate coats to the purple and black lace gowns, this time I am cheating nd going to the court house and then meeting up with family for dinner instead. speaking of cheating I had 2 smore's yesterday so I understand totally the TOM although mine was 2 weeks ago anyways, I wear my pedometer at night when I work and have been averaging about 4 to 5 miles a night and then tryingto get some yoga in during the day, really need some rain here, the thunder clouds are rolling in though no promises yet. Have a great day at work and talk more later

Hi Jackie and Anna!

I've finally unpacked my computer! The moving went smoothly, and now the unpacking seems like it will never end! With the stress of moving, I haven't stayed OP. I haven't weighed myself yet, but anything other than a significant gain would surprise me.

Jackie: I don't know the conversions off the top of my head either, but 8 miles is about right. ONce a week I meet up with a friend who loves to exercise and we walk and talk for a couple of hours. In fact, I'm meeting her today so I'll at least meet my exercise goal for the day!

Hope you both have a great day!

Molly

Hello!

I need some more will power dust coming my way, so here it is!
For the past couple of days, I've been having a hard time staying OP. Thank goodness I'm back to walking at work again! I'm back to being afraid to hopping on the scale again. My son's HS graduation party is this coming Saturday, so I'm kind of running around with my head cut off around the house and having a little bit of stress eating. By Sunday, it will be all over with. I just have to hang in there until it's all over! Anna: Did you get a lot of rain over night? It got pretty nasty my way. I went outside to make sure that my roof didn't catch fire from the lightning a couple of times. Thank goodness everything is fine. As for work, I never made it in yesterday. It was raining too hard and I was afraid of the lightning! I set my own hours, so I'll have to work harder tomorrow and for the next few days to make up for the absence. Molly: Glad to hear that your move went smoothly. Have fun unpacking everything. Well, I've gotta go, so TTFN!
Have a nice Independence Day, everyone!
