Red face Tummy tuck vs. lower body lift

Okay, this is probably something that I will have to see a plastic surgeon about, but can anyone tell me who generally needs a lower body lift vs. a tt? I have a lot of loose skin on my inner thighs and lower tummy. Enough skin on the lower tummy that I don't think I will be able to get down past size 12 or so without some of that skin removed.

Regarding the skin on the inner thighs - that's not part of a lower body lift is it? I think I read that that would be taken care of by a thigh lift. My back and rear are okay, not much loose skin there, so I think that means I would need a tt. Can anyone comment?

The lower body lift is generally for the back as well. I had a tummy tuck and a thighplasty. That sounds probably what you would want/need. But, you really should consult a plastic surgeon as only they could comment professionally and also after examining your body.

Shrinkingchica, can I ask about your thighplasty? I've had the tummy tuck and the arm tuck about 18 months ago (not to mention a breast reduction years ago) and am very happy them. I thought I could live with the thighs, but they drive me nuts. I work out a lot these days and am always in shorts and it's just awful.

Are you happy with the thigh job? Did it do all you expected? Have you had issues with the scar "dropping" down the leg as my plastic surgeon warned me could happen?

I just looked back and realized you just had it done recently. Still.. I'm curious, are you happy with it so far?

Thanks Shrinking, I think that is probably what I will end up needing also. Although, as you say, I would need to go to the PS to know for sure. I don't know why I'm expecting my online buddies who have never seen my loose skin to be able to diagnose what I would need.

Just the thought of a lower body lift scares me. I'm afraid I would be too chicken if the PS said that was the only option for my body.

Thighplasty - okay I'm off to google this to read more about it. Thanks!

Thanks Meg! The LBL sounds frightening, but it helps to talk about it. Knowing that some people have a fast recovery time also helps. I love this new section of 3FC by the way. PS is something that I am seriously considering (well for some point in the future at least) and I feel like I am gaining so much knowledge here from eveyone's openess and honest answers about what they've gone through. I don't know anyone in the real world who could really answer these things for me, short of going to the surgeon. And I don't know that I would have even considered it beforehand. Thanks again. If a LBL is recommended, it's great to know someone who's had it done.

I too am thrilled that people here can talk openly about weight loss skin removal surgeries. I am afraid i will end up needing some sort of tummy tuck once i am thru too. I look at the apron i have hanging down. I know it will continue to shrink though as i lose weight, but i am just afraid it is not ever going to go completely away without having some sort of tummy tuck. I just don't know how i will ever be able to afford it. I know you can finance these things but i have such bad credit. I guess I can use some of my income tax money next year...since i probably won't reach goal until the end of this year anyways.

But what i am trying to say is....i love that everyone here is so supportive and so willing to talk about what they have gone thru to try to be somewhat "normal".
