Default Meetings vs. Home

Hi Everyone!

I was just wondering what everyones take is on doing ww meetings or doing it at home? I have been doing WW for a while now but always seem to manage to get off track. I started out doing WW online but then switched to doing it at home. I am wondering if the meetings will give me the extra motivation I need? Or if it would just be a waste of money...

I went to meetings for about 6 months, and didn't even lose 10 lbs. I've been doing it at home for 2 weeks and have lost about 4-5...the difference for me was all mental and internal. I would fall off the wagon, then pretty much starve myself before the weigh in... when we moved here, I decided not to do it as a way to save money, as chicago is more expensive than Madison... For me, meetings helped if I was already making good decisions, and pretty much staying on plan. If I was falling off the wagon, or had fell off, the outcome was no different between meetings and no meetings.

For some people, meetings are the dealmaker, the extra accountability and being with like minded people. A lot of it has to do with your leader, how they lead the meetings and how helpful they are at helping you, encouraging you.

I'd try going to the meetings, even for a month, and see if it makes a difference for you. A month isn't that expensive, and that way you can see if it helps or not... try it, it may be what you really need.

I think it really is just all a mental game...I was able to do WW at home from Sept-Dec and lost about 25lbs. I had good motivation, but also had a busy school schedule (I am finishing up my pastry degree) so that helped. At Christmastime I really got off track, and just couldn't get back on on my own, so I finally decided to go back to meetings, and have been back on track since. However, I have gone to meetings in the past and have not been successful.

The good thing about meetings right now is that if you do the monthly pass (the least expensive way) you also get the online access (etools.)

If you are having trouble staying on track while doing WW on your own, I would go to a few meetings and see if that helps. It really is all a mental, though...the meetings work if you let them.

Good luck!
