I live in NJ, and the heat and humidity are getting disgusting (I have zero tolerance for warm, humid weather). Out of desperation I bought and wore two things I haven't worn in public for years. I bought a couple of sleeveless tops and a pair of skorts (looks like an almost knee length skirt but has shorts underneath) I found everything at Walmart.
I feel so much cooler-to h#ll with how I look! Actually because of all the exercise I do, my legs don't look too badly! I usually always wear capri pants or ankle length skirts but it's too hot.
I looked in Jc Penney for another pair of skorts (walmart only had one pair in my size) but the ones they had were at least an inch shorter and were not flattering AT ALL. The hem him right at the worst spot on my thighs-forget it.
Oh, and I noticed I'm one or two sizes smaller in more expensive clothing than the sizes I need at Walmart-how weird!
Is anyone else baring more skin than usual for comfort's sake in the heat?
I wore a swimsuit at the waterpark with no shorts and no t-shirt over it!
I've noticed cheaper clothing is tighter, too. Also, how do junior sizes work? Are they smaller??? I have a pair of junior shorts that SHOULD fit (even be a little big) according to size but are still a tad tight. Can't figure out why.
Living in Louisiana for 9 yrs , made wearing shorts a neccesity. Besides there are alot of overweight people there, so I didn't feel alone. I only have 2 pr of shorts right now, and one is too loose, the other is just a little loose, but I do where them. Now wearing a tank top is another story, haven't worn one of those without a shirt on top for 20 yrs or so.
Have you tried the Avenue for shorts? they have lots of great clothing for summer.

It's hot here too and I am wearing shorts around the house and outside to do my yard work and gardening. Previous to last summer, I hadn't worn shorts in years. I wear capris' most of the time if I leave the house. I don't wear anything that is sleeveless because my upper arms are flabby since losing the weight.
royalsfan, Jr. sizes run smaller. For me, I would need a large or XL in Jr.'s shirts or mostly a medium in women's. In jeans a 4 in women's usually equates to a 5 or 7 in Jr's.
I can't even dream about junior sizes-I'll be so happy just to be a size 14 women's!
I'll have to check at the Avenue-thanks! I always get email coupons from there. I tried Fashion Bug but didn't find anything. I also looked in Catherine's plus size store but their prices are insane-on clearance a summer skirt was $36!
I don't like my upper arms either, but to heck with it.
We live near a water park-last year I wore a long tshirt over my suit, but then when you get wet the shirt sticks to you everywhere and looks horrible. i found a nice coverup made out of some kind of netting material at Ross for ten dollars, so I'm going to try that.
I think this is the first year that I won't be bearing my arms in tank tops. It also may be the first year that I don't wear shorts or short skirts. I am still wearing short sleeves but the loose skin on my upper arms is making me feel a little awkward for now.
I wear mostly capri pants, I haven't braved shorts, yet---the ones from last summer are tight and I refuse to buy bigger ones--once they fit I will wear them. I was hoping to wear some tank tops this summer, but still SO self conscious about my arms. Plus I have been wearing short sleeved shirts while doing yard work, so I have quite a nice 'farmer tan' going!
When its hot, I have to wear shorts and my tops are sleeveless. The shorts I have now to wear are REALLY baggy, so they cover alot, but I did buy some better fitting sleeveless tops. Whats some jiggly arm fat amongst friends? There is less of it than there was this time last year. That is how I rationalize it.
Regarding the Junior sizes -- I've always heard that the junior sizing is designed for a less "womanly" (read: curvy) fit -- the waist would be the same in Junior size, but without the hip room that a Ladies size would provide. Once our bodies mature and we approach the typical child bearing years, we get hips and curves in places we don't even want them. Those juniors: built like 12-year-old boys.
