I have done the Abs Diet and I still follow it, It's not really a diet but a change in eating habits, I also cut out drinking beer (not completely) and took regular gym exercise which I now do at home, if you stick with it you will see results in time, it took 4 months for me to lose my belly, I can see my abs now, it was the first time I needed to lose weight and it was pretty hard as I craved pizza, chocolate, cakes etc.
One tip that really worked for me, if I felt hungry I would eat an apple and drink a pint of water, this stopped my hunger 99% of the time.
