Well its the end of my second week on Phase 1 and I lost 4 lbs. and have not seen a difference. I have no idea what I should do, i have been strict on everything. i really feel like giving up
Hey, four pounds is a LOT to lose in a week or two! You should be proud. If you doubt me, just go to your local grocery store and pick up four pounds of butter. At the beginning, that was on you! Now it is gone, off your body, left behind, vanished (now just make sure you put the butter back down and leave it at the store ).
Remember, you probably didn't gain those four pounds in a week or two. Really rapid weight loss is usually just water weight, and not sustainable.

Bridy, I have no idea what you weigh or need to lose as you did not do a ticker or fill in all your profile. Is it possible that you have only a small amount to lose? If you have 20 pounds to lose, you've already lost 20% of it. People with a lot to lose drop a lot more in Phase I.
4 pounds is a great start! The only other food for thought is what are your portion sizes... Calories in and Calories out... you can eat mighty healthy but too much of it...
I think four pounds is great! That is what I lost in Phase 1 too. And I had to work my butt off to get to that.
Did you drink a lot of water? Many times, the inflated figures you here about in phase 1 are due to loss of water weight (which I was more than happy to lose).
Yep, 4 lbs is wonderful! If you have a can of Crisco in your pantry, go pick it up...that is 3lbs. If you think about the fat in that can distributed in your body, that is a lot of goo!..then add a lb to that and you will feel much better about "just 4lbs!". Don't think about that number on the scale..it is just a number. Just check out the mirror and how you feel about yourself...that is what is important. Every week you will feel better and better and you'll see the results. You can do it!!!
2 pounds a week is great... and i'm with ruth... how much do you have to lose total? how badly were you eating before the beach? these things all have weight as to how much you will lose in phase 1 which BTW is about getting your blood sugar under control the real weight loss does not come till phase 2... besides this is for life, what's your rush?
I needed to read this today, and ladybugnessa you are right, what is the hurry? The scales have not been my friend this week, I am only down a half of a pound and feeling kind blue about it. But then I looked in the mirror this morning in just my undies (which I hate to do) and some belly rolls are going away, not sure where they are going cause the scales isn't showing it, hope not to the back where I didn't look! Ok I am kidding, I know this is working and just keeping telling myself that. Even my boss mentioned yesterday "you really are losing weight aren't you?" That means more than what the scales are saying! Chins up girlies, we ARE making progress even if the scales don't show it!
Pacergal, you're funny! I hope my fat's not running around to my backside, either...might have to get myself to one of those three-way mirrors at the tailors or something to check on that situation!
Hey, congrats on the 4 lbs! It would be wonderful to see the scale go down more but sometimes that doesn't happen. I used to work in an obesity clinic where the patients only drank a liquid nutrient mix. There were weeks when they wouldn't lose a pound even though they were taking in less than 1000 calories daily. Now, you're supposed to lose when you take in that small number. The way the doctor explained was that fat cells are metabolically active (even though they used to be thought of as just storage dumps for fat). In fact they contain salts and other chemicals that sometimes cause the body to retain water. When the disappointed patients who didn't lose for a week or two just stuck it out, they would see a big drop in the numbers shortly thereafter. Hopefully this is what you're going through. Keep on keeping on. 4 lbs. lost is better than 4 lbs. gained!
4 lbs is great, and like you mentioned you see some rolls gone which only means one thing inches are coming off. Congratulations and don't get discouraged you are doing great.
