They have 2 types... you have to take a questionaire to see which one you should do.... one is low carb and the other is low fat. I follow the low carb... it's 20 carbs a day for 2 weeks and then up to 60 carbs a day until you reach goal. I think where I go wrong is that I never go up to the 60 carbs... I think that this time, after the 2 weeks, I'm going to try adding things back gradually like Atkins or South Beach.

HI LADIES ~ ~ Could you tell me how many carbs a day you're talking about; and what are they? I am on a plan based on the Canada Food Guide which recommends 5-7 carbs daily (meaning whole breads, pasta, rice, beans, or new potatoes).

I have lost over 73 lbs so far, but have hit a plateau; I think it's harder when you have so much more to lose. I'm doing this plan cuz even though I have been ultra-successful in the past using low-carb plans; I couldn't stick to them long-term (for life, I mean); and kept gaining the weight back.

It is recommended that we should never go below 4 carb servings a day for health reasons (I have Vitamin deficiencies); but, I may have to cut down by one carb or so to continue the loss, I think. What do you think? Like Mary, I'm looking for balance and longevity!!! Thanx ~ ROSEBUD.

I was just browsing through the threads and saw your question. I think the higher carbs (20, then up to 60) that the others have talked about are the grams of carbs, rather than the number of servings. Is that what you're asking? If you already know this, I'm so sorry for my annoying response!

I remember reading in the YOU On a Diet thread a ways back that there were people who hit a plateau and overcame it by increasing the whole grains. Perhaps drop white rice, white pasta, white potatoes (if you're eating any of those at all) and replace them with brown rice, whole wheat pasta, or sweet potatoes. Other people swear by that "steel cut oatmeal," but I still haven't found it in my stores.

How many carb servings do you usually have in a day? If you are eating 6 servings, then maybe drop to 5, and you're still within an okay range.

I'm far from an expert at this, as lower-carb options just don't seem to work for me (I can't stick to them).

Good luck!
