Thumbs up Just started YOU: plan 2 weeks ago with dh

and his formerly uncontrollable diabetes is in control completely (BS within normal limits) every time he checks it, and he lost 5.5 inches in abdomen in 2 weeks and I lost 2.25 inches. Whoa!! We can both feel our clothing getting looser, and puffyness and bloat going away. This WOE is wonderful!

Mainly we FEEL so much better. More energy, and dh isn't having his lulls in energy and actually WANTS to exercise most days.

I just consider this what *I* call 'clean eating', but it is the first time I have been able to keep dh on something for more than 2 days in our 29 yrs. together. He is becoming a fruit and vegetable-holic. He saw Dr. Roizen on PBS one night, and I had already heard of the plan from numerous fitness/diet forums I am on.

We follow their rec of eating the same --or close to the same--foods each meal each day, except for dinner. Steel cut outs and fruit at Bkfst., and the Japanese Ginger salad at lunch (with chicken or shrimp in it for dh's protein needs) and then a lean and healthy dinner of 2-legged meat or fish and veg. And of course, snacks. Usually nuts or fruit.

Zowie, so we feel good!

Cheryl - thanks for sharing your success with us! My DF is on the plan with me as well, and has had great success too. Something about the Drs. just seems to appeal to men, I think - I could never get him to join me on a WOE before.

I've eaten clean like this before, but one difference is the avoiding of HFCS - that seems to be a big help for me in terms of not being hungry.

Yes, Cindy, and I never realized before just how many things contain HFCS before till I diligently read each and every label. I have fairly good luck in the organic/health foods section of some stores. It really plays a major role in dh's insulin response and sugar levels. They were all over the map and made no sense till I started shopping around the outside edges of the store mainly and avoiding all or most packaged food.

If you avoid HFCS and Trans Fats , a lot of things correct themselves. I'm psyched! Can you tell?

Are plans for males different or is it still based on weight?
