Cool slacked off for 2 months - gettin' back on track

Hello Ladies -

Well, as of the first week of April, I stated to incorporate lots of sugar and fat into my diet... not to mention high sodium and just plain bad foods. I thought it was just a phase, but for some reason, I just kept going along with eating junk, telling myself I would just stop when it started to affect my progress. Well, it has. I went up about 8 pounds or so... Not sure how much of it is actual weight and how much is water weight. My 1200 average soon became 1700 or so... the entire time I still kept my FitDay going and logged everything -- it was sickening to enter in bad foods.

I decided that before I destroy all of my hard work, I will get back on track -- the sooner the better! My goal is to get my daily average calories back down to 1200 and hopefully drop back down to 140 pounds.

I basically pigged out for almost 2 months straight. Time to get back on track. It's funny -- I'm much happier emotionally when I count calories and stay on track than when I do eating bad foods.

Has anyone gone through something similar?

Have I gone through it....HA! I can't even tell you how many times this has happened to me! I am currently going through what you are and trying to break out of it! I am with you, when I count my calories and log all my food I feel great, so why I would eat unhealthy and make myself depressed is beyond me! I always say okay tommorow I will eat better and then some way I find a way to blow it! I am with you though I am getting back on track before this sets me too far back! We have worked to hard to do this to ourselves so what do you say wipe the slate clean and lets start making some healthy choices and get the ball rolling in the right direction! We can do this!

Oh do I know what you two have been going thru. I stopped myself just yesterday, still had to much sodium, before I gained to much. I am one that gains easily and takes forever to lose so I have to be careful.

GOOD LUCK to you both.

why do we do it? Its similar to a smoker having that first cigarette after a long hiatus. If I were to eat something high in fat/carbs right now, I think my eyes would roll back in ecstasy and a full body calm would come over me. Then I start to think about what we will eat for the next "fix". LOL

I have issues. haha!

Been there/done that. Its the same old, same old song. You're smart to have nipped it in the bud, though, before it got totally out of hand. Good luck getting back to goal, and then you ought to stick around in the maintainers forum to get hints on staying at goal. We all need support whether we're trying to lose or trying to keep it off.

Yes, I would like to know why we do that too? From my experience I think it's an easier way out and it probably tastes better. That and mental issues, when you say, I don't give a damn, what I put in my mouth. I used to say "life's too short." Well, yeah my life would be cut shorter if I chose to eat what I was eating before. Hmm...makes ya wonder!

Oh dear god, we're twins. I was up to 145 from 138, at 5'7, with exactly the same break time... here's to getting back on track!

Time to get back on track for me too! January-March I had great progress (down 30) and since then I guess I've lost my motivation. I loose a few and then gain a couple. Plateau-ing would be fine if I were at goal but I'm only halfway there.

I stopped logging food (i use thedailyplate) and stopped posting here (used to be active on the fatsmash forum). It has taken a long time for me to admit that I have been screwing around and it's time to refocus!

So my food from yesterday and today is logged and I'm back here. Just have to get back to the gym. I lost my AM wake-up mojo. That alarm at 5:30 sux!
