Well, I did it! I officially started my 5K training this morning and it was GOOD! Last night my husband took me out to buy some nice running shoes...it was supposed to be a 50 lb reward but I'm tired of waiting for that! So it's my 48 lb reward! I LOVE them. It actually changed how I was able to endure the running! (I tried a mile on Saturday and literally felt like I was going to have to crawl to the grave! hahah MUCH harder than my 40 minutes on the elliptical each day)

Our town is having a "Celebrate" race in September and I want to be ready for it! I cannot even believe that I'm running, I'm training for a 5K race, and I'm HAPPY about it!

Way to go!! I am training for one too, I am still at the walking stage. I am afraid to run because of all the weight I am putting on my joints and I have RA. Keep me posted on progress~

Woo hoo! It's great that both of you are undertaking this change in exercise. And you're right that a proper pair of running shoes can make a huge difference in the experience - glad you've treated yourself to this sooner rather than later.

I am a "graduate" of the C25K program myself, and have really grown to love running as my primary form of cardio exercise. And I can assure you that if you stick to it, you'll be able to run a 5k before you know it. I started with the program last October, and I am running in my first half marathon in a week and a half.

One last plug - if you're looking for encouragement from fellow runners, stop by the exercise forum and post on the Cool Runners thread.

That's so awesome. It's still on my to do list. I need to get myself back in a little better shape before I try tackling it again. (I got preggo the last 2x I tried it. Now it's a very slim chance that will happen )

I'm about to restart the program. I did it from Jan - April doing it two weeks at a time instead of one.

Good luck!

I am pumped! Thanks for all the encouragement and thanks for the tip on the cool running forum! I didn't know it was there!

(Hmmmm, hope pregnancy is not a side-effect!!! I'd be ok with it but DH would stroke out!)

Hey! I just got done with Week 1 of the program (jog 60 seconds, walk 90) and I´m re-doing it to make sure I´m in shape for the next week. We should keep ourselves updated!

The time really flies by on this. This last time I was getting ready to start jogging again when I checked my watch and noticed that I was done. And I dropped two pounds since last week, which is the biggest amount I have dropped in weight ever! I´m so happy now that I can run! Good luck to you!!!

That is just awesome!

I tried it one time and we can just say it did not work out for me... It just was not pretty... LOL

I think I was trying too much too soon..... But, I know I am in better shape now....

Just reading about how those that have done it just love it so much makes me want to try it again, the enthusiasm is way too contagious. Something to think about................

Anyways - way to go you all! It is really fantastic!!!!

Good for you! I hope you really enjoy running. I hope to start that program some day too. I'm waiting until I'm under 250. (Although, if pregnancy is a side effect, I may wait longer ) KUP on how you are doing.
