Default 30 Something's Memorial Day Weekend Chat: 5/26-5/28

Mornin' All!

Hanna, Wow, that brings back memories. Many times I got called to daycare to p/u Peter because he was running, kicking, hitting/punching, supposedly spitting. Sounds like the docs need to reevaluate his meds. I hope they can get a good combo soon. Have you settled on a treatment program? Sounds like you've found a day program, and won't have to send him to a residential place??

My fridge and cupboards are getting bare, need to go shopping today. I'm going to go through everything first and see if I can come up with some meal solutions first though. If we're going to get that house, we need to really tighten the purse strings. Anyone have any tips?? How do you shop? I make a list, and usually stick to it, but I'm not good at planning meals. I'd like to get to the point where I can go grocery shopping for the week, and not have tons of stuff in the pantry that I don't know what to do with, kwim? I like the Kraft site, because they have weekly meal plans, but i haven't implemented anything yet. I think it's because there's usually one or two things on the list I don't like, and couldn't figure out a substitute.

Anyway, I'm feeling very organized this weekend. Yesterday I was off and got some cleaning done in the bedroom. Also got my hair highlighted....I feel summery again! This AM I tackled some dishes (I sure can't wait to have a dishwasher!!), and cleaned some stuff in the LR. I just can't seem to clean one room all at once.

Have a great day all!!

good morning all!...

Lauren: i have this cookbook from rachel ray and its called 365: no repeats...very easy recipes, most have not too many ingredients..and all are 30 minutes or less..when i first got it (as i do any cookbook) i go through and tab all the recipes i like..then when its time to go shopping i just quickly go through the tabs and see what i want for that week....i hope you find something that works for you

well its been a busy week and will continue into next week...we had another death (cant believe 2 in one week)...so thursday was the viewing for my dh aunt...yesterday (friday) was the funeral...fist the mass then the funeral then the reception...today (saturday) my sil is graduation from Sonoma State University...we are going to that then out to lunch with everyone...then i am going into work because i missed friday for the funeral and will be missing wednesday for the other funeral (dominics football coach)...and sunday mario has baseball...i am also doing my last weigh in of may on sunday before baseball...so i will relax on monday!
i hope everyone has a wonderful and safe memorial weekend!

LBH ~ I love to cook but I don't have a lot of time. So I have come up with this plan. I have made myself a "master list" of every meal I make. If it is from a recipe book i list the name and page number. I have them catergorized buy the meat that is the main ingredient ( that way I don't eat too much red meat in one week). Then at a glance I can pick the seven meals and make a shopping list of everything I will need. I like going once a week so I can buy fresh fruit.
I like to go shopping on Sunday so that when I get home I can prepare for the week. I go over the meals planned and prepare them as far as I can and then freeze them. This week i had spaghetti on my list so i made the sauce and then froze it.
This helps me from eating out when I have been busy all day because most of the work has been done already. Hope this helps.

Joan~ I have 4 kids. Jeffrey 9, Kiersten 7, Lauren 3, Abigail 1. And all of them have birthday coming in the next 2 months. Just thinking about all of that b-day cake is killing me.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Sherry

Hi all

I've been out of commission for awhile. Life got too busy. And I just got a confirmed diagnosis of asthma. Didn't think adults could get asthma but turns out we can.

Hope things are well with all of you. Looking forward to catching up.

Morning all.

I had a decent weekend and am not feeling too terrible this morning. I know, I know....shocking.

It was the last full days I could work on my trains before the show this coming weekend. I got about 1/4 the stuff I wanted done, but that's okay I guess. It's only a hobby and I did manage to get something completed which is more than nothing at all. Who knows, maybe I'll be buoyed by this success and manage to get another one done before the show - but I'm not going to count on it.

I did manage to get out and exercise a little as well - it was hot here on Saturday. Into the low muggy 30's (high 80's/low 90's in F), but we still managed to get out for a little geocaching with some of our friend's kids. That was good for a couple hours of outdoor time.

Eating - meh - not so good. Far too much ice cream and pizza and fast food in my diet over the weekend. I'm SURE that my weight is up if I even bothered to get on the scale. I really need a solid attitude change when it comes to dieting - and whatever I choose to do I need to find a way to stick to it 'cause what I've supposed to have been doing, I just am not.

Anyway, ladies - take care and have a good day.
For those who get it, enjoy your long weekend!

Mornin' All!

Having a nice long weekend here! A lot of cleaning, picnic at the IL's yesterday for MIL's bday, bbq here today...just us, mom and gran & gramps.

Hope everyone's made it over to the new server OK!

RX, glad you got a little exercising in! Now just forget FF exists and get back on schedule!

Clover, welcome back! Sorry about the diagnosis, but like RR said, follow the Drs. instructions and take the meds and hopefully it'll all be OK.

Have a great day all!

Hello everyone - hope you are all having a great weekend!

This is just a hello - how's everyone going- I havent had a chance lately to log on and see how everyone is going! I am around, exercise has slowed down - it is very cold down here - do you find yourself more motivated to exercise in the winter or summer months?

I am finding it difficult to keep motivated and i love to enjoy the warm comfort food of Winter... I will try to keep on the straight path to weight loss this time, but it is getting difficult again!

Hello everyone!! We are finally home. It was a fun trip, but exhausting. We were supposed to get home Sat but a weather delay mde us miss a connection. Normally the airline doesn't do much for you when you miss a flight due to weather. Since we were traveling with an infant they gave us a hotel room, diapers and an overnight kit. We were able to spend the morning yesterday in the USO office so it wasn't bad at all. They had toys and TV for the kids (and snacks!). I'm glad to be home tho. Visiting is fun, but getting back home is the best.

My eating has been AWFUL to say the least. I'm not sure, but I bet I gained 10 pounds. Whew. All we did was eat it seems like. Cassie got sick while we were there and had her first ER visit and antibiotics. Double ear infection and possible strep throat. She is the first one to be on antibiotics. I feel like a failure since my BM didn't keep the infections away.

Off to catch up on some sleep! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

hello everyone!
It was a good weekend around here!
We went to the beach on Sat. and it was so cold we had to come back aftere only 1 hour so I came home with Sean changed and we went to the gym. It was overcasted by the beach not by my house. Hubby did come home early from work on Sat. that was wonderful!!! Sunday we went out for breakfast with a friend didn't do to bad in the eating dept. Later in the day we went to Balboa Park, they had all the hopitality houses open, it was very nice, we had a little bite to eat at the hh from the Phillipines, we had Turkish coffee in the house of Turkey and we walked around. Dinner was fantastic! we went out for what else but sushi!!!! mmmm....
Today hubby had to go to work, I went to the gym in the AM and when we got back the kids in the neighborhood asked me if I could put the water slide out, so we did, I didn't even think of putting any sunscrean on and I am baked, I look like a red ripe tomato, and IT HURTS! I am going to put aloe on my skin before I go to bed tonight. Hubby came home from work and he is making ribs for dinner on the bbq, I don't like ribs, I am going to have a great big salad instead.

RX I am so glad you were able to get some exercise! that is great! Have fun with the trains!

Clover I am sorry to hear about the diagnosis, like Karen said take care of yourself, take your meds and you will be able to keep it under control.

Vanessa try to get motivated, I know it can be hard but you feel so much better when you do get your blood pupming! cheer up!!!

Karen I have no idea how you guys do it, how can you be ready to go to work so early... that has to be so hard.

GG I am happy for you to able to relax, you sure had a crazy week last week, is the boss back in town? I hope so!

Lois

See you guys tomorrow!

I am going to go put some aloe now, I am burning up!

Hanna
