Exclamation well she tried to get me to buy in bulk and it did not work

I had already known what was coming . I went in and told her I have 30 minutes then I have to get my dd ( who was with me) to the doctor. She was running a fever and had a soar throat .

She said well I don't know if I can get it done that fast. I said, well lets get done what we can and if its time to go then I need to leave and you pick up where you left off next time. I said not to be rude but its now or never if you want me here today.

So she gave me the entire bit and the savings etc etc. then she told me about this card i can get some kinda of credit card for the bulk stuff.

I asked her the interest rate and it was as at 22.89% and if your late with 1 payment is 29.89%. I said i am not interested in opening a card and or putting that on my credit card. She went on how its sooo convienent etc etc.I am sure its great for some people just not for me.
She seemed rather annoyed because she said do you want a supply for 2 weeks now. I said , ya the carmel one and some of those snacks that are 10/10$. So she said I will ring up YOUR BARS AT14.00 instead of the sale price I gave you. I said , WOW isn't that something to say. I said you know what change that I will take just one box instead and the snacks.
She then said OH ok .no more wise *** remarks after I dropped my order from 2 to 1 box.

I can appreciate they are making money and all don't get me wrong but if your going to throw shots at me because I am not interested in doing what they offered. Well I won't buy from her when i go in. she went up front and told the girl that I basiclly was not interested. She said thats fine, if she wants some items then ring it up.

Oh and I lost another pound since Wednesday yippie.

My COD hasn't been bad at all. They tried the sell at the beginning and when I said no they stopped. About a month and half ago they said they had another bulk opportunity for me and I also said no and again no pushing. They never ask anymore if I want to start the lites again. They have in my file that they don't agree with my tummy and that's that. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

She was fine until the sales pitch started. I think she did not like she had only 30minutes to work with but I don't have 1 and 2 hours to sit with her. She got it done in 30 minutes no problem. the woman said to the other girl she needs to leave in 30 minutes. She said thats fine you have time to do it.

I think she was planning to be able to pressure me into it and I held my own.

I had tons of time when I went and it only took them 40 mins so she was just trying to use pressure on you. Don't worry about it they get over it!!!! I haven't bought any product from them sunce near the beginning when they had the biscotti on and I bought one box of the chocolate ones. I have the almond ones here as well but I hate them so I think there are still 5 unopened ones in the box.

Good for you! More people should stand up to sales pressure like this. I respect the fact that most sales people don't make the big bucks the real high-pressure guys do. I'm sorry that they're under pressure to make their commission. But that doesn't justify trying to take money out of our pockets that we need for more essential things.

They did offer the more expensive packages but weren't pushy.

I bought 3 months worth of bars/product for the discount. I do like the bars and since I have made a commitment to lose weight, felt it was worth the upfront investment.

I know it isn't for everyone.

Good luck,

Diane

The bottom line with this plan is you are either going to do the bars, 2 per day, or you're not. If you are, then it makes sense to buy in bulk if you can. If you can't, it's not rude to tell your counselor you can't afford it and buy them as you can. Just as with many things, you get a discount if you buy in bulk. Of course that counselor wants to be the one to sell you the whole program of lites in bulk, but if you doing the lites, you're going to pay for them one way or another, so it's up to each person to make the investment that suits them.

Whether you bought the lites in bulk or not, you shouldn't feel like you have to justify your decision. You weren't "suckered" if you bought them that way, and you weren't "suckered" if you didn't.

I see a lot of people posting about the high pressure sales. While the COD does sell a lot of other products that aren't necessary to the program, there is no secret that the lites are an integral part of it. I could understand if you felt pressured to buy Xcel, or other supplements, but the lites are what they are.

Today is my fourth day and I got the same "bulk" sales pitch. I chose to buy them as needed too. I know it's cheaper in the long run to buy in bulk but after the initial joining fees, I wasn't willing to shell out hundreds of more dollars. Maybe after the initail sticker shock wears off, I might purchase in bulk.

As for the snarky comments...totally unecessary. (She probably gets a commission) Good for you, sticking to your guns! --Lisa

I actually went ahead and did the math on the larger package had I put it on the credit card at the interest rate it was 275.00 in interest total . If did all the math correct I would of paid the same out of pocket after 1 year as if I did the card providing I paid it off and did not have the rate jump or had it run month after month. I came out to being 1$ less on the card vs out of pocket.

If people can afford to do bulk and it works for them more power to them!

Steph - I definitely agree with you that you have to weigh the interest rate if you put it on credit. That's why I said that if you can, it's a good investment. I purchased a few boxes on E-bay at first, but only because I happened to get a really great deal. I haven't seen it as cheap since, actually. So I've bought mine since then in bulks of 20 boxes, which is a discount from the regular rate, but still more expensive than the initial package. But... by doing this I am able to pay cash. So make sure you check with your COD when you need more lites. They have sales all the time, and will offer smaller bulk packages so you don't have to pay $29/box the whole way through.

Even at $29/box added to your weekly fee, the fact that I wasn't eating fast food and eating out as much helped balace the cost.

I'm with Cassi that if you can pay the cash, it makes sense to buy in bulk.

I was lucky enough that I happened to have $1500 in free cash floating around when I first started program. (Leftover money from cashing out a CD to pay for the car) Buying the lites in bulk with no interest was nothing but a relief!

If I wasn't able to write a check that would cover the Lites, bottom line is that I wouldn't have bought such a big bulk pacakge. Bottom line is I'm making an investment in myself, not in the interest on a credit card.

I lucked out that way too. we had just finished paying for my sons braces and the orthodontist mailed us a check and said after we paid our part and the insurance paid their part, we had paid over $1800 too much!!! so that was xtra money for me too. other wise I would never have done it.
