Default Sugar and Depression

Yesterday I was actually really happy. I was productive and smiling and just all around in a good mood. Then I reached for the chocolate cake at the cafeteria. I don't know why I did it, I just did. Almost immediately after eating the cake I just crashed. I haven't had any large amounts of sugar for almost 5 months, so that was a rather big impact on my system. I gradually just got more and more depressed, until I was on the verge of self injury. The odd thing is that I didn't feel bad about eating the cake, I still don't. I deserved one gosh darn piece of cake. It was just a random bout of depression that seems unconnected to most anything. I'm wondering if the sugar in my system could have caused that. Cause if so I really shouldn't eat sugar. I shouldn't anyway, but this would make it more important.

I think sugar can definitely cause a crash - but I would think it would not be immediate but rather after the sugar has ran it's course through your body.

This was over the course of the entire night. It started around a half hour after I ate.
