Default 300+ and just getting started

Hey,

So I just wanted to introduce myself here. I'm 22 and just realized that I'm over 300lbs. Seeing that number on the scale made me realize that I really need to get to it and get healthy. I've tried to lose weight before but have quickly lost my motivation. I hope that having support and someone to talk to will help me this time.

WOW! We are in the same place as far as weight is concerned! I too just had a rude awakening. I am new to being 300+ as well. Even though I had suspected it for awhile, I just had it confirmed last week. I had been hovering around 280-295, and then came the climb to where I am now, which is 308.

I am controlling calories and eating a whole foods vegan diet focusing on health, nutrition, volume and fiber (in that order, I guess!).

I have a DH who is a real sweetheart and supports me 100%, while loving me just as I am

I am mom to a young teen girl who also wants to lose a bit (about 20 pounds) and she's got a great attitude about herself and food too

I am a full time student at this time.

Welcome to both of you!!!

This is a great place for support, ideas, and inspiration! This is a group of people who really know what it's like to have that much weight to lose. I personally count calories, but I know there are some WW out there!

Feel free to join us on the weekly numbered threads-- that's where a lot of the action is!

Thank you guys for the welcome, very much appreciated. I've decided to try calorie counting, and if that doesn't work for me I'm going to head on back to WW. It worked before.

Soulbliss- It's nice to know that there are other people coming from the same place as me...I was around 280-290 then I finished school. I had nothing to do but sit around the house and eat. and now here I am.

Welcome guys. Isn't it scary when we hope on the scales and realise that we are bigger than we thought? Where did it come from? It seems to sneak up on us before we realise. Ok I do know that we all know how it really got there but it is still a shock.

I started at 308, now down to about 299 but have stuck there for about a month now. The biggest I ever was, I think, was 330, unless I was more and it just didn't show on the scales.

Good luck with your weight loss guys.

You've come to the right place! It is an eye-opener when one gets on the scale and realizes they have passed that "first scary number" (as I now like to call it; the second one is 350!). I've been at that point; fortunately now, I have fallen below it.

There are lots of good ideas, advice, inspiration, recipes, goals, and lots of support here...one of the absolute best places I have seen online. What may work for one person may not be ideal for another, but this site explores all types of options and is very informative. Enjoy your stay here.

Shannie! I see you are in Ontario, have you thought about trying herbal magic? Yes, it IS expensive but it works wayyy better then WW. (beleive me I was on it as well LOL). When I first started herbal I was 330lbs, I lost 37lbs in 2 months! Then I found out I was pregnant! From pregnancy I lost 10more lbs. I returned when she was 8 weeks old and have lost 15 more pounds! It really works!
