Newbie: First time on SB
Hi, this is my first time doing South Beach. I have struggled with my weight pretty much my whole life, but in particular in the past 10 years. I usually do WW, and lost about 35 lbs last year using WW Online. I found that after a while, I would get lazy, stop tracking, and then the whole thing would fall apart.
I was just down in Florida with my folks last month and my mom went out on a limb and bought me the South Beach book. She is smaller than me by leaps and bounds, but she found it an easy way to loose those extra pounds. I figured, what the heck. I actually started it the first week of Passover, which was perfect. You can't eat bread then, and I hate matzoh, so it was the perfect time to start. I think what surprised me the most was that you really don't get hungry (and how bad a baked potato is!).
Just after then I went on vacation for a couple of weeks, and tried to follow for a while but did allow myself to slip more towards the end. Now I am back on my 1st week of phase 1. I have been sick for the past several days without much appetite, and need to "ease" back into it.
There are alot of things I like about this program, primarily how easy it is. No counting, tracking, logging or calculating. I like the emphasis on veggies, and I love having eggs for breakfast. Sometimes I switch it up a bit and get quail eggs (they're so cute!). One thing I do have to start is an exercise program.
This is also my first time on the boards here, and it seems like a really great community. I look forward to being more involved here, and of course loosing lots of weight!
