did anyone see...
im not sure if it was a repeat but did anyone see that programme tonight on one of the cable channels about that 16 year old american boy who was 411lbs.he had so many health problems - pre diabetic, sleep apnoea, etc. his parents were normal size. he wanted a gastric bypass but no one wanted to to operate on him because of his age and also medical insurance wouldnt cover the cost of the op. anyway, after a public campaign, found a surgeon, had the surgery and the results were amazing. he changed his whole life, nearly had me in tears.
the programme went up to about 10 months post op (i think he had lost about 180lbs at this point). the surgeon did say however they dont know yet what the long term effects will be on doing this type of surgery on someone so young.so it would be interesting if they did a couple of follow ups. mad
