Default Getting Started

Hi, I'm having trouble getting started. I'm keeping a diary, drinking water, and hope to begin exercising. I just had surgery on my leg and the doctor just cleared me to start exercising again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :broc

Just get moving. I know it sounds simpler than it seems right now but really, just do it, as the Nike ad goes....

The biggest thing that helped me the very first time back a couple years ago was to pick a parking spot far away from the door to places I was going to...made me walk more

Thanks for your suggestions. The scale hasn't moved and I'm somewhat frustrated. I decided to go back on week 1 of the South Beach diet, hopefully to jump start my efforts. I've exerciesed four times a week the last few weeks, so I'm hoping the scale starts moving. Thanks Flow

I know how frustrating it can be for the scale to not move. I am there with you right now and have decided to bump up my calorie intake a bit to see if I can get things moving. I've also just been doing more healthful things...walking everywhere...but I digress..

I think it's improtant that you are thinking of solutions and hope that we can be here to support you in any way you need!

Maybe you're not eating enough calories. Take a look at what you're eating and go from there. I know when I started (one of my many times) last year, I ate too few and my body hoarded everything I gave it. I've finally found a balance that's helping me lose...slowly but it is coming off. Good luck and keep your chin up. If you don't lose, then adjust a little...it's a fine line and only you can find exactly what the best combination is for yourself.

Thanks for your suggestions Decade and Lekhika, I have fantastic news. I finally lost 4 pounds. I think I needed the jump start that South Beach gave me. I have a few more days on the induction, and then I'll move on to phase 2 or go back to counting weight watcher points. Flow
