Question Anyone use South Beach Online?

Hi everyone--

I found this forum searching the web for info on South Beach. I'm considering starting SB, been on practically every diet there is, and was able to keep my weight down for years until my thyroid went whacko. I've lost some, but think I will do better following a plan.

I'm wondering about SB online, anyone using it? I assume after the first week there is a fee, anyone know how much? I don't have the books, I'm thinking that online might be a better motivator, and plus there are recipes and forums. Any comments on SB online would be helpful.

Thanks!

I did it a couple of years ago but didn't find it helpful at all. I prefer this site. There are more recipes here and the boards make it great! I would by the book for less than $15 at Wal-Mart and come here. The book takes about 2 hours to read and will really help you to stay focused and realize why it works.

You really need to read the book.

Agreed. I haven't actually used SB online, but all the info you need to do the diet is in the book. I am opposed to giving away my hard earned money- to people who have more than me. I think you'll find that everything you need is in the book and here. the food lists are kept up to date and there are lots of great recipes and the girls around here can't be beat for support and motivation. I wish you well, whatever your decision is. We'd love to see you around.
Check out the P1 thread!!

Hi, SilverQueen! I registered for SBD online and found it helpful, but in the end I was paying about $5 per week to log onto a forum. And the nutritionist help is extra now. Fortunately, I found this site and have gotten a wealth of information, great support and some fantastic recipes ... for FREE!! Had I discovered 3FC earlier I wouldn't have registered for the other in the first place. And I agree w/Sunnybunny and tifanicole about getting the book. I think it's important to understand why the diet works. Good luck!!

Wow...thanks for the quick answers ladies!

I'll get the book. Didn't realize that there is a recipe section here. I'll look around.

I concur with what the others have already said....buy the book and come here. I do subscribe to SB online, but I plan on cancelling once my subscription expires. They have nothing to add that I cant get right here...and get it better!

Hi again--

Tifanicole--I can't find the "P1" thread you are talking about. Can you direct me to it?

Also, I can't find recipes. Is there a special section for recipes?

Under "fat chicks on the beach" the thread title is "Phase 1 Thread April 22-28.
Yes, under the "south beach diet" heading there are 2 categories, chicks on the beach (our daily chat stuff) and a recipes thread. There are also several handy sticky's like the official food lists and SBD friendly products.
Hope that helps.
