Default Just thought I'd say 'Hi'!

Hi Everyone, Well I've been popping onto this board for about 2 weeks now, and I have finally bitten the bullet and decided to post a 'hello'!

My name is Cat, I'm 28 and live in Cheshire (a Cheshire Cat - teehee!) with my hubby and 9 month old son. I've had 'issues' with my weight for as long as I can remember, when I met my hubby (8 years ago) I was 11st 6lbs, and thought I was fat. How I wish to be there again!!!!!

I have been on my new healthy eating plan since Tuesday 10th April 2007. I weighed in at 14st 6lbs. This morning I weighed myself and I'm 13st 12 lbs!

I'm a vegetarian, but my previous diet didn't include much fruit and veg, as I had got stuck in a food rut. I'm not even sure what I used to eat, I guess pizza, pasta etc.

I have been really tough with myself since the 10th as I have failed on so many diets due to no will power. Currently I am eating no dairy, no carbs (I'm eating all veg except potatoes), no salt/sugar, no caffiene, no ALCOHOL!

Obviously I can't keep this up long term but I'm going to try to do it for one month, to detox. I think I have more energy (hard to say when my son wakes me up around 4 times a night!!!!!!) and I know it sounds silly but I feel really chuffed with myself, as I haven't cheated (for once!).

Eek! sorry for the long post! I'd love to hear from any of you lovely ladies on the forum, but especially fellow veggies. I have lots of veggie cookbooks but I'm always on the lookout for new ones, so if you have a recommendation, or a fave recipe, - let me know!

'Speak' to you soon....
Cat

Hi Cat and

You've made a fantastic start and the extra support you'll get from this site is going to make it easier too. Don't get down when the weight losses slow which they will - just keep going. I can so relate to the wishing to be at a weight I thought I was fat at. I remember being 9 1/2 and thinking I was fat. I probably had a little spare on me (I hate having small bones) but fat?

Hello, I'm veggie too (and also 28, for another month at least). I've really got into eating more varied fruit and veg since I started doing this, and I post as many recipes as I can on my food blog (link in my sig). Warning - now I'm maintaining and marathon training some of them are possibly higher calorie than what I'd eat when I was losing, but feel free to check it out and see if you can get some ideas. I also eat lots of carbs (I need to!)

One book Sarah recommended which I love is the Rose Elliott Low GI Vegetarian cookbook. I got it off Amazon a few weeks ago and it's fab.

Hi, welcome to 3FC and congratulations on such a brilliant start

I'm sort of a part time vegetarian - I don't eat meat Monday to Friday and only eat organic / free range fish or meat at the weekends. I'm another foodie... I love cooking. We often swap recipes on the UK recipe thread - theres some nice ones on there - and please feel free to post your favourites as well.

hi Cat

I'm new too and a veggie and suffering from serious food issues. We could be twins!! haha Anyway, just wanted to wish you luck...I've never used a site like this before and I find it a bit daunting getting the hang of things. Lots of luck on your journey.
