It's cold (36) and dreary here! The nor'easter hasn't affected us too much other than rain/cold; I'm hoping we don't see any snow! I've seen on the news how hard some of the other areas have gotten hit. I'll be glad once Spring arrives!
I had a busy weekend--DS #2 played rugby on Saturday and scored his first try with the "big boys" and he played again on Sunday at a high school tournament. He loves the game as much as his dad does so he's "hooked" to say the least! I braved the cold/wind/rain to watch him play yesterday and finally thawed out!
I didn't do all that bad with eating--as always it could be better. I'm counting down the days till I reach the warm, sunny days of Clearwater! I leave next Thursday evening and will be spending 5 days with my friends
Hi, Melissa. Thanks for getting the thread started.
Visited my parents over the weekend and eating was not good. Ate out too much. : ( It's a new week. Went shopping with my sister at a designer consignment store. Wow! I'm glad that store is on the other side of the state--dangerous.
The weather here is so strange. It's in the 60's, but cool. The wind is blowing really hard. We had some terrific storms yesterday, too.
I hope Susan got to Cuba all right. She needs the relaxation.
I'm headed to Dallas on Saturday and will return about the time you arrive in Florida, Melissa. I will be attending an annual conference for my professional group. I've never been to Dallas except to sit in the airport. If anyone has been, let me know what I should see.
I did a half on Sunday and feel pretty good. I just got back from the nutritionist and found out that my metabolism is soo efficient I basically need 1000 calories to survive.
Um, that is without losing any weight.
So, basically I need to exercise 500 calories a day and cut 500 calories out of diet to lose weight.
I am so distraught.
I'm also going to SF tomorrow for work and reconsidering staying the night just so that i can not eat all that great food.
Seems like everyone is going somewhere fun this week.
I'll be back, I'm just in a funk.
Oh, read my blog and see what else is cheering me up!
Lala: I can SO understand the funk! I'm feeling the same way today--a little overwhelmed and upset that my weight is not where I want it to be. I've been having an inner war as to whether I should contact an endo for my thyroid or just stick with my GP. There are days that I feel "okay" and then I get the days like the last few that I feel tired...*sigh* Good for you on doing the half on Sunday! I got a nice 4-mile walk in today at lunch time. I'm working on moving more.
Lisa: I've never been to Dallas other than a touch down in a plane 25 years ago, lol. The weather is still cool here--the weekend is looking a bit promising with temps hopefully in the mid 50's.
I'm looking forward to my trip to Florida next Thursday. I talked to my GF last evening and we're going to have grouper on the beach on Monday--I can't wait! It gives me something to look forward to.
Went to a very nice dinner last night with DH and others for my birthday. I'm 53! Sometimes I just don't believe it. Lovely evening.
I need to start packing for my trip to Dallas. Because it's work-related, I have to dress differently--lots of clothes. I'll figure something out. There is an event one night that is Western attire (oh, puleeze). I'm scrounging up some stuff in my closet for something to wear. I do have a cowboy hat from years ago that I've never discarded. Will be staying at the very nice Hyatt at Reunion; it looks like a good hotel. I won't have a rental car, so I'm hoping there are things nearby to visit. I understand the JFK memorial is nice and there is a shopping area called West End.
lala, where was your last half? Was it local? Did you find a home for your parents yet?
Talked my younger sister into joining me and DH for our trip to Oregon in June. She never has enough money to go anywhere. I told her pay for your airfare and we'll supply the place, food, car, etc. That should be fun.
Still sort of blue trying to process all the information I got yesterday.
Lisa - Oregon is fun. Where are you planning on visiting? I loved Eastern Oregon and the Steen Mountains if you decide to venture across the mountains.
I'm going to look at two properties this weekend for my parents. They are leaving the country next week so they are not in a big hurry and some houses in their price range are sticking around the market for a few weeks.
I am leaving in about twenty minutes for the airport. I am not amused. I am not in the mood to wear a skirt, so I totally sympathize with you Lisa. I have packed a skirt, my running shoes, two tshirts, a cardigan and a book for my trip. Good thing geographers are so casual .
I would skip the country western attire and find a cowboy to drag along.
Okay, must dash and find someone.
Have a safe trip Melissa and Lisa!
Remember 3:1:1 so TSA and DHS like us to remember.
lala, have a good trip. Oh yes, 3:1:1--always good to remember. Just found out my director invited several of us to go to dinner at the Hotel St. Germain in Dallas which is supposed to be very nice (and very $$$$). Looking forward to that--another dress!!
In Oregon we will be near Bend and Sunriver. DH's sister lives outside Bend. Do you know the area?
Woohoo the sun is shining here today so it's a beautiful day for walking outside! The temps are supposed to start getting warmer (finally)!
Lala: I wear a lot of skirts/dresses so that's not too much of an issue with me but I don't wear them on planes
Lisa: I don't know that I'd drag along "western" gear but then that's strictly up to you. I would imagine that there will be people there that won't have them either.
I'm finally through the dreaded folder that I've been neglecting--now I just have to make copies and get things in order for when they have to go out. A lot of the correspondence goes out while I'm out.
I was down 1.6# at my WI yesterday so I lost what I gained the week before. I'd love to post another loss next week before I leave on my trip! I'm trying to stay focused. Walking at noon today with my friend so the activity is doing well--just need to keep my eating even.
Melissa, I wear lots of skirts and dresses, too, but not on planes. I'm just wearing a cowboy hat and packing some stuff that could pass for Western. I like themed parties, etc., but not when it's Western. One of my coworkers went out and bought some cowboy boots. I refuse...
Congrats on the loss. I wish I could say I had a loss. It's not a pretty week. I have kept my activity up (thank God for that).
I'm so glad that your weather has improved. It's gorgeous here today.
Good morning! It's bright and sunny here although the temp is right around 35 we're supposed to get up into the low 60's today. The weekend looks great with temps increasing--finally some nice weather! I think that'll motivate me to move the winter/warm clothes out of the closet to make room for my lighter clothes.
DS #1 and his fiance have their hall for the reception so girls, August 11 is the big day--81 days away! Part of me is very excited and the other part of me is a little emotional.
I've been really trying hard to watch what I'm eating and it's a battle--PMS is here and I'm really trying to keep my snacking to a minimum with healthier choices. I really want to see a loss next week and in the weeks following--I want to look great for the wedding!
Lisa: When do you leave for Dallas? I know you said you'd be arriving back home when I'd be arriving in Florida. I'm looking forward to my trip.
Lala: My brain is in a fog--are you home or traveling again?
